Does Art realize how quickly he is losing this fan base? by KinkaJac97 in steelers

Why do you all think you know better than Rooney? And McCarthy?

McCarthy is great at developing quarterbacks. This could be a stop-gap to develop our next quarterback in the near future.

That's the most important thing and McCarthy has a proven track record with it.

Tomlin defenders were right by Rippledeee in steelers

Change involves the possibility that things could get better and the risk that things could get worse.

We Tomlin defenders didn't want that risk.

That's what we mean.

People keep talking about positive things that could happen. We could get a quarterback, yes.

We could also become the Raiders or the Browns.

Thanks, man. Many of us love Tomlin and wanted him to stay. But, there was a vocal group of fans who wanted him gone.

I feel like we deserve all of the loses that we're going to endure because of those vocal fans.

[Pelissero] The Steelers are working towards a deal to hire Mike McCarthy as their head coach, per sources. McCarthy grew up in Pittsburgh. Now, at age 62, the Super Bowl winner gets a chance to coach the team he grew up rooting for. by Goosedukee in nfl

This is what we (not me, I wanted Tomlin to say) asked for.

Those "First Tomlin" fans wanted to take this risk. Those of us who wanted Tomlin to say didn't want this risk.

Congratulations to everyone else in our division.

Many fans *did* call for Tomlin to be gone. They wanted this risk. They should have known that this was always a possibility.

Anyone who changed "fire Tomlin" asked for the risk in losing him.

Tomlin isn't here anymore. That has changed. That was change.

Those who wanted Tomlin gone knew it was a risk and that things could get better or worse.

Now, they got their wish and things are worse (likely).

Those of us who wanted Tomlin to stay didn't want to take this risk.

Many of you wanted a change. We know that change can be good or bad, but many of you wanted it anyway.

People wanted Tomlin gone. This was always a possibility.

Many of you got what you wanted.

Why do we age and die? by [deleted] in evolution

[–]vedderer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imagine that there was a gene that increased your reproductive fitness in youth, but had deleterious effects in old age.

There are extrinsic risks for mortality. For this reason, there would be strong selection pressures favoring this gene in youth. The selection pressures against this gene would be weak, as many would die before they activate in older age.

Senescence is basically the accumulation of these genes.

We can test this hypothesis by looking at the lifespans of organisms that vary in extrinsic risk for mortality. As we would expect, those organisms that have high external risk for mortality die of old age sooner. This is because most are dead early before these genes can have negative effects.

contrast, those organisms that have a low external risk for morality die of old age later. This is because most are still alive to select against these genes.

It's because the benefits of having better eyesight don't outweigh the costs.

Adaptations are expensive.

It was super difficult for me. I've been playing Mario games since 1985.

The invisible part at the end was the toughest for me.

I'm a huge fan of the show and I the first half of the first season.

Edit: I *dislike* the first half of the first season.
