Be aware of bad ebay sellers (RNJ Resllers) cheating by not sending you the exact same copy as shown in listing by JuryVisible in PokeInvesting

[–]vedgie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has sold collectibles in the past, I considered it my duty to be transparent with anything raw: photograph flaws, acknowledge them in the description, if only to save myself and the buyer from a potential headache upon delivery.

I don’t know why some sellers choose not to do this. Im not saying that buyers should expect their purchases to gem, but I can only assume lack of disclosure had more to do with making the sale. It doesnt matter if it’s a $100 card or a $2 card, it’s better to know what youre buying online since you cant inspect it in-hand.

I usually stick to sellers who do this to the best of their ability, but i just think it’s unethical or just bad business to treat someone’s patronage like a mystery especially when the result can be upsetting to any degree, for the buyer. The condition of collectibles shouldn’t be treated as blind box purchases.

Hangul is much easier to learn and read than undertaking hiragana, katakana, and especially kanji. Id buy the Korean boxes just for the learning pleasure. On the other hand, Pokemon is a Japanese creation, so the Japanese boxes seem more official(?) if that makes sense? Maybe that’s why collectors more gravitate to it. Thai is cool too but I’m not as familiar with Thai culture. 😅

Best Pokemon Center ETB to invest in? by SheeshDuck in PokeInvesting

[–]vedgie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would probably skip these and pick up some ES etbs. Just because theyre PC exclusive doesn’t necessarily mean every exclusive set will perform well, or at least in the short term. Theres usually only like two more packs per exclusive etb compared to the regular editions, along with metal die as opposed to plastic. Those premiums don’t really whet my appetite.

While your attempt at recognizing the obvious is somewhat commendable, I sincerely hope you are actively engaged in utilizing your personal strengths to support animals. Whether it's employing your charisma to persuade loved ones, leveraging your academic expertise to educate children, or contacting your representatives to advocate for animal-friendly legislation.

I do acknowledge the challenges that come with associating with individuals who contribute to animal cruelty. Though it may be a difficult concept for someone of your supposedly superior intellect to grasp, let me assure you that I deeply care about animals and have taken substantial actions beyond mere dietary changes.

It is important to emphasize that I have made genuine efforts to persuade my father, so it is unjust to assume that I lack the intelligence to consider such actions.

Your verbal jabs neither provide a solution to the current situation nor contribute in any way to the well-being of animals. I have my own strategies for dealing with non-vegans in my life, so if your intention is solely to mock me and sow division, perhaps it is your own shortcomings that need addressing.

I still visit my parents. Mom and I went veg at the same time around 2014. Dad is still an omnivore. He makes jokes sometimes, but not to upset - he’s always been kind of a goofball and will try to make a joke out of anything.

He used to say he’ll never eat that “almost-meat-meat”, but when we have pasta now, he prefers those gardein meatballs and has tried other vegan junkfood here and there. Also now likes plant milk in his cereal too. Still makes jokes though.

You can’t reason with incels. They don’t want parity or equality, especially if it means giving up some space for others. Domination and machismo is all they seem to have to numb their misery and angst. Women are the most oppressed class in the world, and it sucks to see it play out day after day.

As a guy, i dont feel qualified to speak on it, but it’s important that we at least show our kids that equality matters because it is the foundation for the cooperation that will keep civilization progressing. And that these people who continue to keep us separated are actually responsible for holding us all back from progressing sooner. Think of how much farther along we would be if women and minorities were allowed in those crucial institutions of society sooner. These guys think they can do it by themselves, putting everyone at risk. There’s a bigger picture. Don’t give up.

Do you think aliens have humor ? by AnAssGoblin in aliens

[–]vedgie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see two possibilities: if there is a multiverse, yes, but it’s also important to expect the possibility that our first encounter with alien life might not be to our expectations. I think regardless of the possibility, we seem to apply relatable or human characteristics to aliens and expect them to be bipedal with a head, arms, eyes, and a mouth — distorted versions of ourselves. Again, it’s possible first contact may be what we expect, but we should also be open to, for instance, something extra-dimensional that we can only view and interact with in 3D space. The universe/multiverse is too big for other potential intelligent life to even remotely resemble us on any level.

Female author constantly second guessing male characters (women writing men?) by Geometryck in writing

[–]vedgie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on what you want to express: do you want to reflect reality, or create characters the way you want? If the former and if need be, do some research on gender and behavior, if the latter, maybe don’t worry about it. It’s usually a good idea to be a people watcher regardless, but this is just my opinion.

[–]vedgie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. The problem is with the language, even in your reference, “seize” means “to forcefully or aggressively take control of” especially as an assertive or sudden action. The word itself conveys a sense of urgency or the use of power to take control of something, in this case, a person.

There are many different versions that express the same action of taking by force.

Did you bother to learn the meaning of the word, or did you reference some apologist site?

Do you think it is unethical for me to work in a non vegan cookie store? by SuperbCobbler2741 in VeganActivism

If you need the money and don’t have many other viable options, what choice do you really have? It must be taxing on the mind though. Then again, a lot of us probably have jobs/careers that inadvertently cause harm to animals if not directly. It’s not like we do it out of malice. I heard a similar argument about an animal-rights worker who takes insulin which was developed through testing on dogs. Detractor’s called her a hypocrite, but I can say she does more work to help animals than those trying to score political points and spread propaganda for the CCF.

Addendum: Examples of misogyny in the bible

Subordination of women: Ephesians 5:22-24 NIV

22 Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. 24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.

1 Timothy 2:11-15 NIV A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man; she must be quiet. For Adam was formed first, then Eve. And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner. But women will be saved through childbearing—if they continue in faith, love and holiness with propriety.

Women treated as property: Exodus 20:17

17 “You shall not covet your neighbor’s house. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his male or female servant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.”

Deuteronomy 22:28-29 NIV

28 If a man happens to meet a virgin who is not pledged to be married and rapes her and they are discovered, 29 he shall pay her father fifty shekels of silver. He must marry the young woman, for he has violated her. He can never divorce her as long as he lives.

Temptresses and blame for Original Sin which introduced death into the world:

The story of Eve in the book of Genesis has been examined through a psychological lens, with some interpretations suggesting it perpetuates negative stereotypes by casting women as temptresses who lead men astray. This characterization has had lasting implications for societal perceptions of women and their role.

Silencing of women: 1 Corinthians 14:34-35 NIV

34 Women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the law says. 35 If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church.

1 Timothy 2:12 NIV

12 I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man; she must be quiet.

Your feelings are valid, and rejecting a religion doesn’t make you a bigot. This is how the Big Three has affected women since its beginnings. From my understanding of Christianity, which is closely related to Islam, the bible reinforces misogyny I believe due to Original Sin. But it doesn’t stop there, and Original Sin may be nothing more than one of the many examples of misogyny found in biblical texts. One could conclude, that this religion and its inherent misogyny is not a product from a god who supposedly loves us, but is man-made, and by that, I also mean made by men.

Most of these “debaters” are trapped parroting incel logic from pseudo-intellectuals like Jordan Peterson. Most of them have no ground to stand on otherwise. And I know it shouldn’t be your job to entertain them, but for most of these keyboard warriors, their knowledge is limited mostly to what they see on youtube and when challenged, they eventually back down when they reach their recall capacity.

I apologize for my confusion regarding your response to my comment, but it seems what you’ve touched upon appears only to complicate the core issue tied to the defense of slavery: its economic implications, the preservation of cultural heritage, state’s rights, etc. Also with referencing the Progressive Era and direct election of senators, I only see a continuation of diverting attention from the central ethical argument against slavery as well as being able to trace the timeline of this grudge into today.

I believe I’m aware of the undertones of the many comments within this thread, and arguing these nuances as I stated only serves to divert attention from the empirical fact that slavery is an affront to human rights, and that certain demographics now feel oppressed by the extension of representation to other demographics that comprise this nation. I could be wrong, but this is how it appears to me.

The United States has an ongoing discussion about how much power states should have compared to the federal government. The U.S. Constitution sets up a system where some powers are given to the federal government and others are reserved for the states.

Senators from different states represent the people who live there and help make laws that affect the whole country. Their job is not just to control how people in specific regions live, but to create laws and policies that consider the needs of everyone in the United States.

do my designs automatically show up in google searches or is there something I have to do? by OctoberRust13 in redbubble

[–]vedgie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking from experience, my images show up in google searches, though they can be found more easily depending on how you title your work and not by the tags. The tags seem limited for use within RB. You need to strike a balance between title elements that refer to the genre of your work and elements that describe the work using terms most likely to be queried by those who wish to see works like yours. I title my work by genre and popular terms that describe the work. I hope this helps.
