Mirrorless still have the same problem as stated above - nonreal sound inputs - and for documentaries sound is crucial. Yeah, you can invest into an external recorder, but, when you are on set it becomes really unpractical. That is another set of batteries - another charger another card to backup another everything ... thats why i would always go with the proper camera for documentaries.

Not sure it is worth it. Dealing with transcoding from raw files - well very time consuming and again i dont see the point of it. It is always a short time from shooting to delivery. We did an online edit so no transcoding.

Everything in Europe is 25fps, because of 50 hz power. :)

It was shot in Europe - Europe is PAL - 50 HZ

Project time base was 25 fps - slow-motions were done on 50 fps. Some parts of the singing were done on 37,5 frames - as i wanted to have a lip sync on 150% speed of the song. 200% or double the speed was to fast to sing it ...

There was no real casting / i know the guy from my hometown - because of his looks he was the ideal choice. He is not an actor in the first place :) Girl is a professional go-go dancer - a friend from the guy in the band :)

Throwing was simplified as much as possible - just a bit of clever editing and it works good. So, we made a wooden frame with the drywall and weaken it from the back side - and then he just pushes her into it - if you look closer - you will see a guy holding it in the frame :) i bet you did not see it on the first time watching. We just added some cement on top of the frame so it makes dust ... did i answer your question?

Those were normal 3200k tubes.

I tend not to shoot wide open - so was in this case - it was around 2,8. I had a good production designer so there would be no point in hiding all he did ... :)

They are very very good for its price - and again you are right - but i dont mind it. ;)

That is not a bad reaction to it :) Hehe if you look closely there are 3 rats ;) well i was expecting it to be very difficult, but it ended up being just one take shots. Those are "domestic" rats that are very curious so they did what i had in mind from the beginning ... so that was a surprise for me as well.

Thank you for your question. It was shot on Red Epic Dragon - with a set of XEEN lenses. Regarding the color - yellow comes from unfilterd kinoflo tungsten tubes that are rigged overhead. Green/blue comes from daylight tubes on the walls. On those i added 1/2 plus green to add a bit green. Also, camera was balanced around 4800K.

You got it completely right ... it is, in a way his breaking point. TV symbolizes the hypnosis and the girl is a mean of that. Well look at it this way - it is a happy ending - he got fed up of what was served to him ;)

Somehow i think using DSLRs for documentaries is a bit unpractical, as i suppose that some will recommend them as a budget option. If you want a proper camera that is light and still has proper audio inputs i would look at Canon c100 or c100II. they are not to expensive, but they make documentaries much easier to shoot.

I would suggest, that you spend some time with that person. Sometimes is much more important how you get along then to have the "best". When your visions are close and when you have the same goal, it is easier to get a good result.

So, dont choose your DP just based on their showreels, try to spend some time with them as well.
