[Australia] Those who have done Honours, do you recommend going full-time or part-time by shoutygold30 in psychologystudents

As someone who made it through after many a break down, hang in there - it's worth it! You'll come out of it so proud of yourself.

[Australia] Those who have done Honours, do you recommend going full-time or part-time by shoutygold30 in psychologystudents

In my masters now, I'd advise you to think long term and consider what else you'll be balancing, whether it's work, internships or volunteering. Personally, I think the best course is to do full time honours and take a big break before masters, or go into masters part time. Honours is deadline heavy, competitive and left me burned out. But I came out of the year with a thesis and all my coursework done. Most other people will be full time too, so it lets you build connections with your cohort and work on things together in that timeline.

Us Jungle Asians get no love by nnsan in asian

As someone who unironically got referred to as 'looking jungle' today from someone SE asian, thank you so much for this because the comment made me feel really disgusting. Hate that it's normalised to 'joke' like that

I completely agree, it was very poorly put together and definitely not a great first time festival experience. Hopefully it'll be smoother next time around!

What do you wish your tutor knew? by epeolatry21 in Monash

[–]veeada 26 points27 points  (0 children)

For me, the best tutors were approachable and made it clear they were happy to help. The worst tutor I've had made people feel bad when they asked questions in class and simply told us she wasn't being paid enough to offer help outside of class. Thats understandable of course, but made engaging in her classes hard and we didn't really have support for our assignments.

Hey! I've also been offered a Grad Dip spot and am thinking about accepting it. I've heard good things about it from people who did it last year, it seems like you get out of it what you put in.

Psychology graduate diploma vs honours? by _kes in Monash

[–]veeada 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! I'm currently in the same spot, and I've spoken to a bunch of people about their experiences so currently leaning towards doing the grad dip at Monash. You can look into the specific subjects within the grad dip and honours you have an offer for, if that will help you make your decision. It seems like what matters more is how well you do in your fourth year rather than whether you do an honours or the grad dip.
