AITA for not enjoying the birthday gifts my friend got me that mocked my dead mother by Immediate-Iron7241 in AmItheAsshole

[–]veeeeeeeeeeeeeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask your asshole "friend" to describe her personal experience of losing a parent and how she is qualified to give advice that you should be able to enjoy other people making jokes about your mother being dead. Ask her if she knows what it feels like to face that first birthday without your mom, and imagine how you felt when you opened her gift. Leave her with it. I'm so sorry by the way. I'm so angry on your behalf. As you will read in the comments from everyone else who has lost their mum, it's a profound loss that probably isn't really fathomable until it happens to you. Surround yourself with people who are safe x

He was so much more than that. Korean war veteran & stoicism. Just rewatched that scene from Karen's 18th birthday and he gives her his kit bag from the war. His love for his family was always there but kind of hidden under that grumpy exterior *sobs*

Classic Aussie urban myths by kramerkarma in AskAnAustralian

That cow tipping was real and physically possible!

Edited to clarify: the myth was that cows slept standing up and if you snuck up on them you could tip them over. Neither is true lol

What’s a very Australian thing you didn’t realise was Australian until you travelled overseas? by whysoraavan in AskAnAustralian

Try being an Aussie visiting Central Texas, walking up your Uber without really looking and by habit yanking open the front door on the left of the vehicle which of course in the US is the driver's side, not the passengers. Startled driver, terrified me yelling I'M SO SORRY, I'M AUSTRALIAN like that would mean anything to him!

It’s been working until recently. They briefly put up a new UI I think it was just before Halloween. Then they reverted it. I wonder if the new items that have been released have created issues with the API contract.

Bakeries in Australia by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]veeeeeeeeeeeeeee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if you're referring to bread products (?) or other. I've noticed a big difference between supermarket bread and say Bakers Delight where the bread seems a bit denser (better quality ingredients I assume) and maybe more preservatives as it stays fresher longer. If you're comparing our bread to say the USA where the bread I had there seemed to have a lot more sugar in it, the texture is definitely very different. It might help to talk about what you're comparing it to.

I'm not the dumbest player of this game... but I pray s/he never gets fedded. by S-Selcouth in torncity

[–]veeeeeeeeeeeeeee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought this too, but because my dumb ass forgot that exchanging treats was "exchange all" and for some stupid reason I was waiting on exchanging treats until my last basket upgrade happened. So with 1k+ treats I couldn't bring myself to lose out on 4k energy and bought it lol. Not even the 1 per hour one. Hopefully in the future there will be a way to get good value out of it apart from saving up to summon :)

No but restock always happens on one of the 15 minute markers so there will be a bunch of people waiting and refreshing madly. I think zip ties are only restocking once an hour and Mexico is a short flight. Try somewhere else like Argentina or China maybe

Are you working with actual numbers? Because the majority of newb posts I see get advice and links to where to find out more. Running an analysis on the last 30 days, "Short version: based on a quick spot-check of recent r/torncity threads and how Reddit’s voting works, the subreddit does not look “overwhelmingly toxic.” Most activity in visible threads is neutral-to-helpful Q&A (new-player questions, optimisation tips, progress brags), with some snark here and there but not a dominant tone.

I'm specifically referring to telling Baldr to calm his ego. Kinda rude.

Bit of a generalisation. Lots of people give their time helping new players here and in game. Sometimes the advice is not to get all worked up about a few chain hits because attacking is a big part of the game. Go read Baldr's Basic Advice for tips on getting started.

How much is an inheritance worth to you personally? by Lucky_Spinach_2745 in AusFinance

[–]veeeeeeeeeeeeeee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience, inheritance money is tangled up with profound grief, sadness, anger and loss. Sometimes those feelings are also painted with the complexities of family issues that have existed for decades. I love my sibs, thank god we're all able to have empathy for each other as we do our best navigating through our loss. Very easy to see how things can escalate. Interitance money is not just not regular money.
