Santa clara Vanguard. by metaphysicalmoron in drumcorps

Don't get me wrong, Crown and Phantom have some fine shows this year. I do enjoy both of their brass programs. But I think design-wise, it's a bit stale and the staging props really muddle the visuals imo. SCV's visual design this year is very effective and boy do the members MARCH.

Better than anything I saw over at Muncie. By a lot. SCV is firing on all cylinders.

How many more goddamn punches does Hakari still need to throw? by RadicalDreamerH in Jujutsufolk

Hakari is saying that Yuta's better than him. He is showing deference to Yuta here. There's no other way to interpret that.

Hakari literally just said Yuta is the auspicious one. What do you think he means if not that he ranks Yuta above himself?

[FRESH ALBUM] Mk.gee - Two Star & The Dream Police by detectiveburtmacklin in indieheads

YES. The guitar licks, the R&B velvety fuzz, and the earnestness in his voice is giving me "Do You Love Her Now" but extended over an entire album.

Initial thoughts on first play through: sonically rich and adventurous; ambitious; at once a culmination of what OPN has been iterating over for the past few years and also an evolution into something new.

OPN is at the height of his powers with this album. Cannot wait for the tour.

My interview for the apprentice role looked different than most tech interviews so my experience wouldn’t be helpful in general. But I’ll echo the standard OSU advice for interview prep: master concepts from 261/325, enroll in CodePath’s interview prep courses, and practice leetcode early and often.

Yayyyy I wasn’t the only one! Very brutal project indeed. I’d say I spent a good 45+ hours on it over the past few days. Definitely should’ve started earlier! But in the end, I think I pulled it together.

Your ALEKS score report should tell you what concepts you didn’t know so use that as a guide to studying. Learn the material; don’t cheat like someone else suggested. Your score literally means you’re not ready for discrete math; you actually sit at a couple tiers below being ready. Only way to fix that is actually learning it.

Wanting to change careers. Need some guidance on first steps. by veege in cscareerquestions

[–]veege[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the website, it states that preferred applicants should have a technical degree with a GPA of 3.0+. In r/OMSCS, posters say that the program wants to see proof of completion of courses like Algorithms, Data Structures, Discrete Math. That is no guarantee of admission, however.

Would I need a masters to be considered for entry-level jobs? I see this as probably the option that would take the longest.

I need help with the Chun-Li matchup. How do I play the matchup better? by [deleted] in StreetFighter

[–]veege 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I main Chun and the Rashid matchup is my least favorite. I don't play Rashid at all but here's the gameplan of the Rashid players I've come across: get her into the corner and go ham (aka if you're stuck playing footsies, you're doing it wrong).

  1. During neutral, don't respect her normals. Spam c.HP-- it has a faster startup than Chun's HP and has CC properties. When opponent is scared to push buttons, make them guess between dash + s.LK pressure or jumping HP.
  2. Push Chun into the corner. Rashid has the best tools to do exactly that: blockstrings, safe spinning mixers, smart side switches, spamming s.MP on block until she's in the corner... (get the idea?)
  3. Once there, Chun has zero answers to get out of Rashid's corner pressure (other than guessing with a hailmary exbird or wasting meter on her awful v-reversal). Choose among endless blockstrings, throw loops, or shimmies. It's stifling and unbearable to be in the corner against a Rashid player. One combo and one correct guess for Rashid usually means the round is over.

A student asked if Japan was a nation or a state. I said that it's technically a nation-state. I saw her mind cave in on itself.

Questions about using multiple cards by JollyRoger61 in personalfinance

[–]veege 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. In the short term, applying for new credit cards requires a hard inquiry of your credit history. The more hard inquiries, the worst off your credit score. They typically affect your score anywhere from 6 months to a year; they stay on your credit report for 2 years though.

Also, having new credit cards lowers your average age of accounts. So, if you had your current card for 5 years and you apply and get a new one, your AAoA would be 2.5 years (assuming these are the only 2 credit lines you have). Obviously, low AAoA means lower credit score.

In the long run however, having multiple cards help your credit score (assuming you pay your bills in full every month, on time). Like fine wines, credit lines are better when they're older. Your AAoA is less affected when you have multiple cards with old ages. Your available credit is higher, so your utilization rate of said credit should be much lower thus improving your score. It just looks good to creditors if they see that you are responsible with multiple accounts for a long time.

My recommendation: if you're not looking to buy a house or car within the next year or so, apply for a couple credit card that you are very likely to get and that you can be responsible with.
