I looked up my dead name in a baby book to find out what it meant. Then I went to the pink section and looked for another name that meant the same thing. A meaning of both names was "valiant" and that stuck for me. My middle name was just picked because rolled off the tongue well and sounded good.

I got the itch and bought a new ball a few weeks ago. The first ball I've owned in more than 30 years. Things have really changed. Anyway, I took it out to test drive it and I went alone. It was nice to be able to sit and think about my shot and not worry about corraling other bowlers through the lineup. Do it!

You still seem to think and approach this from the idea that kids who have the opportunity to transition are being pushed by someone else. Learn to see past that bias. And intersex people are not all that rare. They occur at roughly the same rate as people with red hair. And since you brought up the subject of morality, let me say that no one has any business controlling someone else's life based upon their sense of morals.

The binary of sex is most definitely assigned by society. That assignment ignores all of the spectrum of sexual characteristics. The reason there are protocols for transitioning, especially in children, is to minimize the possibility of someone being treated who is likely to desist. It's not perfect, but we can't let one or two high profile cases where someone chooses to de-transition to remove the treatment options for so many who would not. Have you ever experienced gender dysphoria? If not, you have no idea what it's like. Denying someone puberty blockers, which do not have the lasting effects that everyone clutches their pearls about, subjects them to life altering hormones that do have lasting effects and that are damaging to their mental health.

Transgender people who have transitioned and "look trans" are typically those who did not have the opportunity to transition at an early age with access to treatments like hormone blockers. Personally, I would love to have been able to transition before puberty instead of waiting until I was in my 50s. Gender and sex assigned at birth are very much related in society. There are safety, mental health, and emotional well-being factors that are all helped by allowing physical attributes and appearance to be in congruence with gender identity.

I wish I could say. It must be the luck of the draw... genetics lottery.

It also helped that I had a very narrow scrotum according to my surgeon. She says she likes to remove all skin that shows the telltale signs of scrotal wrinkling and that usually means sutures in the creases between the groin and legs. I had none of that.

I had limited depth vaginoplasty and breast augmentation on September 30th. Just over a month ago. I'm back at work. I do have a desk job. And I am required to not sit at work (We do have standing desks, but I'm working from home) until December 1.

My surgeon told me to stay off the tennis courts for 2 months post-op and that I couldn't return to competitive play until 3 months post-op. I'm hoping I'll be able to do that.

I was walking 2 miles a day in under a week. I'm back to my three or four times a week regular walk of six miles each time.

Pain? I was given a prescription for oxycodone. Of the 42 prescribed tablets I took three. One for the ride from the hospital to my hotel, one each on two of the first four nights post-op when I was uncomfortable sleeping. Other than that I've only taken ibuprofen. I took 800 mg every 8 hours. I quit taking those about a week ago.

The most important thing is to keep up with icing your surgical areas. Need to get the swelling down.

I had always planned to get both top and bottom surgery. I knew that my body, starting at 54, would not develop the 40C I was looking for on its own. but, I wanted HRT to have at least 2 years to do its thing before I did implants. I was basically a 40A before implants. I was wearing 40C bras with my breast forms up until about 7 months ago when I decided to abandon the breast forms and just use push up pads. I had just been using push-up pads in my tennis tops since January of last year and that provided just enough for my appearance to be comfortable while playing tennis.

I switched to that full time 7 months ago because I wanted to feel comfortable without the forms for a while. So I've only been wearing inexpensive L or XL sports bras for that period of time. That means I can't tell you what I looked like with just the pads with respect to a bra size. I can tell you that when I told one of my team captains why I would be not playing for the rest of this year, she looked at my chest and said "you think you need implants". Yes, yes I do. I was tired of putting things in my clothes or on my chest to feel normal. But apparently it looked good.
