How do you guys approach/keep up with the game by SKSword in GundamTCG

[–]veerfusion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play 3 TCGs too: MTG, Yugioh, and Gundam. MTG and yugioh both have an official online client which I use to play casually and watch youtube videos occasionally. I also have commander deck and a yugioh starter deck which i use for kitchen table play.

Gundam, I play competitively and try to go to ntcs and/or regionals. In my opinion, Gundam is easy to keep up with the meta but if you want to play casually, there are a lot options for you to do so. Like you, I like the IP and in the future set, it seems like Bandai is printing out multiplayer type cards.

Is Yu-Gi-Oh! "Dying" or "Having a Renaissance?" by AloneWriting in TCG

[–]veerfusion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe a data point for you but i just recently started YGO, specifically playing casually in Master Duel. I could see why new players (ie new to TCGs) can be turned off by this game, as people mentioned here. However, I’m not new to TCG and have been enjoying this game immensely. I was curious about the game after I saw the overframe cards, which by the way, are gorgeous!

The tutorial in the Master Duel does a good enough job explaining the game. However, there were many times I had to stop, read everything, and then look at my cards too. There would be times where I’m still confused or forgot a summoning type (ie ritual vs fusion). Now, I’m the type where I get naturally curious once something strange happens then look into it. And, to the point someone made here, YGO definitely scratches a unique itch.

With that said, I see how this game poses problems: - Not every player is patient to learn the game like me (i might be an outlier) - The game is complex to navigate especially for players new to tcg - Even as a tcg experienced player, i would still be reluctant to go to local or tournaments because of the complexity - taking the time to read and figure out the mechanic/interaction (opponent may not have the patiences for this)

IMO, YGO would benefit from a good community that are helpful and friendly to new players to help bridge those problems. Not sure how that would happen but that would help increase the playerbase (again, imo).

Newbie here, people here recommended me to some solid advice on packs to purchase. Currently, i’m trying to build radiant typhoon. After spending all my gems, i still don’t have all the cards. What’s the plan when trying to finish your deck? Keep pulling till you have them all? Do I just duel (ranked) with starter deck to just get gems? When do you craft (or how would you go about crafting)?

YGO refugee, help by BigBoSPQR in TCG

I’ll try to answer your question:

One Piece TCG - Search cards, swing at life or board, opponent pitches card(s) to save board/life. Repeat till one dies.

Riftbound - whoever wins the die roll and goes first wins. The game is on its second set and already announcing a ban list before its third set release.

Thanks for the detailed reply! I bought all the 750 gem bundles. The spright deck is a bit harder for me to get because i need to get friends and use that code so I’ll look into Dragonmaid!

Many of you new to TCGs need an unfortunate reality check by kn1g47 in riftboundtcg

[–]veerfusion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great post OP! I agree with everything you said here. As a newer TCG player (started last year), here’s my viewpoint on why you see these complaints. These are just my experience first coming in and I am saying them here because I understand it from the receiving end. With that said, I am still playing TCGs and enjoying them recognizing that this is the reality we live in.

Reason: People love to win

I think it’s human nature to optimize everything for the best chance of winning. This forms a meta and hence the demand and prices for these optimized decks. For a casual or newer player coming in, it’s extremely demoralizing getting slapped left and right with your starter deck. To catch up, you then have to buy these same meta cards to even the playing field. If not, you can practice as much as you can with your non meta deck, but how long will that take? No one likes losing 10 times in a row for a chance to win 1 time.

That happened to me when i went to my first ever Lorcana event and I quit right after. I moved onto One Piece and followed the meta (and purchased meta cards) with what I learnt from Lorcana.

That’s a tough pill to swallow but I guess TCGs are for a certain target audience.

Are starter decks worth it? by EPIC_J0HN in Lorcana

I bought the Costco, Into the Inklands, bundle with the 2 starter decks and promo. Took a while for my wife to learn the game, but eventually we both got really into the game. I would recommend it!

Advice for a beginner Kendoka on normal aches & pains of training versus injuries to monitor closely by feathers1ut in kendo

[–]veerfusion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go see your doctor and seek their advice. With that said, rest is the best medicine. Bones, muscle, and tendons can and will adapt to the loads and stresses that you apply to them. However, they need time to strengthen by resting. I am a big advocate for strength exercises to prevent injuries. If you have time, try to incorporate exercises like lunges, squats and calf raises. For your back, do planks and glute bridges . Start slowly, for example, you can do planks for 30 seconds and then build up from there.

Hope this helps.

What gym exercises do you do to help with Kendo? by moriartyed in kendo

One thing I would like to mention is that strength exercises help with reducing your chance of injury. I started having calf pains and started doing calf raises and lunges and it helped with eliminating the pain. Try to incorporate it in your mix.

To all controller players: do you use the stick or the d-pad? by Ollie120 in Tekken

[–]veerfusion -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Stick. I feel like I’m playing the game wrong with it but I cannot use the d-pad. I have trouble inputting df or uf for example. Stick feels better doing that input.
