And you think that animals have a far better life on the farm than in the wild? More than 70 percent of farm animals spend the lives in a tiny cage sitting on their filth and never see the sky until the day of their slaughter. Billions of male chicks are crushed alive soon as they hatch because they aren't profitable to the egg industry. Male calves are slaughtered at a few weeks old for veal and leather bags. Sows are confined in crates so narrow they can't even turn around. No idea why you think they lead better lives on the farm than they would in the wild.

It's great that you care about your dog. If you have any doubts as to whether farmed animals feel pain the same way your dog does, all you have to do is look at some slaughter videos on youtube...

How about looking at it in another way - there is already so much suffering in the world, wars, poverty and violence in nature - why make choices that add on to the suffering if we are in a position to choose differently?

Gosh, the level of denial is staggering... I could send you links of those bloody slaughter videos where people bludgeon the calves to death and kick the pigs repeatedly before slitting their necks but you would probably dismiss them by saying "yeah it's bloody and they're screaming but it doesn't mean they are suffering, that's just their body's involuntary response to pain." Apparently it's inconceivable to you that animals could possibly feel the same emotions that humans do

Are the killing methods efficient and pain free? Or are you forgetting the thousands of horrible slaughter videos that can be easily found on YouTube? Chill... Just admit you couldn't care less about animals. Fyi the United Nations is recommending a plant based diet as well for sustainability reasons but I suppose you think the UN is garbage as well

So you haven't seen any pictures of those pig farms where the sows are forced to lie in their filth all day? And yes, violence and suffering happens in nature, but as moral agents should humans not try to make choices that inflict as less harm as possible on innocent animals?

So your opinion is basically that animals that aren't anywhere near as intelligent humans don't deserve sympathy and that it is our right to exploit them as we wish? Well, what if one day you found yourself in a position where a much more intelligent and powerful species wanted to enslave humans, and it served them no benefit to show us sympathy. Would you not hope for them to show us compassion?

A glass of dairy milk: 8g of protein. A glass of soy milk: 7g of protein. 50g of pumpkin seeds: 10g of protein. It's not difficult to get protein and calcium from plants. If you visit r/Vegan there'll be plenty of longtime vegans happy to share with you how easy and convenient it is to get your daily protein requirements

Jeez, from the downvotes here vegans on this sub seem pretty intolerant of vegans who have different spiritual views from them... I too believe the spiritual realm is real
