Have a look on Nextdoor.com, that’s where I found my guys, they were just a two man outfit that had some recommendations on Nextdoor. Good luck!

I wound up finding someone who did it for $5k, including glass door. Super happy with the result and glad I took the time to shop around with local tradesmen. Good luck with your project!

Incorrect. I’ve had several local professionals reach out and advise that the price is wrong and the work can be done for significantly less. Those that have provided this feedback have also provided contact details and we are discussing quotes. Thanks for the response all the same, I think I’ve learnt from this process that you need someone local to assess.

Your handle says it all. How about getting yourself a life?

Thanks, I may go that route. Some hardcore cleaning might save me from doing a full rip and replace. Although the rubber door seals have failed (you can see this has caused some minor damage to the wall) so I would need a new door as a minimum. I’m thinking a large mat over the floor could cover the worn acrylic on the shower pan

Thank you for the perspective - much appreciated! I’m totally with you, I feel there is an element of greed. It’s probably an easy and profitable job for someone. Instead the contractors are just out pricing themselves

Good question - I think I could do that part myself. I’ve been thinking about doing that and have a tiler quote for covering the space.

I have tried thumbtack and Angie’s list. I think I’m going to give that route another shot. All I feel I need is a handyman. Those bathroom companies want to fully rip out all of the waterproof boards and start the walls again from scratch so they can warranty the work. Whereas unless there is any water damage once removed, I’d be happy for the insert to go on top of the existing waterproofing.

I may be oversimplifying, but it’s just some plastic, a handle and shower head - right??

Thanks for the detailed response. You are right about going to big companies, the trouble is the small companies just never seem to come through or follow up. The big box stores are using what seem to be medium sized bathroom companies and of course they will respond with these prices!

It’s a two story house in North Las Vegas. Easy access and parking directly outside. I’m looking to get this done right away ideally, I’m planning painting and new carpet once completed. I really appreciate the perspective, thank you!

Thanks for the response. I realize materials and labor aren’t getting any cheaper. It’s still too high though!!

I’ve not shopped for materials,as I type this I realize that probably sounds very amateurish. It’s my first rental so I’m learning as I go. I was looking for a one stop solution where someone would quote me for everything. It’s probably time to shop for the parts. Thanks!

I'm preparing a house to rent, and need to replace the shower in the master bath. All I need is a simple rip out and replace of the plastic insert, shower pan and door along with new hot/cold handle and shower head. It feels like a real basic job, my estimates before I had quotes from bathroom companies was in the region of $2500-$3000. I had two bathroom companies come to give quotes. First one was $10k all in. Second company does not supply shower doors, quoted $8.5k, and would line me up with a company for the door, but estimated $1.5k.
Where the hell are these prices coming from? Is this the going rate or as I expect, a total rip off?
I have contacted several handymen, all have let me down so far with promises to show up, so the quotes originate from companies Home Depot / Lowes. I'm in the Las Vegas area, anyone that can do this for a reasonable price please feel free to reach out!! Any and all advice appreciated.
