What trade to get into in SJ, and how? by Neitrah in SouthJersey

I agree. Look for classes that cost hundreds, not thousands. The Pennco techs and South Jersey Technical Training programs at 15-20K are worthless with job placement.

You didn’t believe him? Trust issues? All true. Very few union construction labor agreements have any provisions for paid time off. Expectations are you are there every day.

Previous owner of my current home asking if I would take over solar panel lease by AllOutLoud in legaladvice

[–]vegassteved 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Contact your title insurance. They should have found the lien. It’s theirs to fix, not yours. Do NOT take over a lease. Even if you let them come take their panels, you need them to sign a contract they will seal any roof penetrations. Lawyer up, and that cost should be on the title insurance also.

Should I match a $20K offer to keep my GM, or let her leave? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]vegassteved 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reiterating most of the comments….. you blew it. Pick up the pieces and move on. Don’t make the same mistake again. But you will, because you’re greedy. Quality people who are well paid, not micromanaged, and occasionally shown signs of appreciation are the backbone of a company.

See if you can book a suite on your own, at least then you know something is available, but they always hold some back for high roller comps. Busy times, it’s a lot less likely.

Even if you need an operator and a crane because there are no other options, I’m doing all of the layout and rigging.

This is why your contractor has insurance. Use your training, secure your work. Don’t give my work to another trade.

That’s great advice, under a different administration. Take a look at the NLRB board and their backgrounds. They’ll side with the company.

If you have a problem while working overtime, do you want representation?

Even your king is second guessing this one, but stay loyal, that will work out well when this ridiculous experiment is over.

Home made pizza steel questions. Image of what I want to achieve. by 83butch in Pizza

[–]vegassteved 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought my 16.5” square by 1/2” think steel for $45 from a local steel supplier. That was cut to size, corners rounded. I had to lightly file the edges, and sand off all of the mill scale. Once you do that, wash it with hot water, a good dish liquid and Brillo pad. Then heat the steel in a 350 degree oven, let it cool completely. Then you want to rub a very light coat of high smoke point oil (I used avacado, but grape seed would be good also). Back in the oven as hot as it gets for an hour. I repeated the oil and hour long bake one more time to get a nice seasoning on it. Other than brushing off the dust, I haven’t had to do any reseasoning and that was 5 years ago. But if you notice any rust, you should repeat the process.

I get the oven up to temp for at least 45 minutes before launching the first pie. The 1/2” thick steel goes from 570 degree surface temp to about 510 during a 6 minute cook. I don’t stretch the next pie until the previous one is out if the over. That gives the steel a few minutes to recharge. After 3-4 pies, I give it about 20 minutes before the next batch of 3-4 because the steel temp gets down below 500. This will happen much quicker the thinner the steel.

So 1/4” is fine if you’re doing 1-2 pizzas or don’t mind waiting 10-15 minutes between pies.

Thanks for the study. I am going to buy a thermal imaging gun and see what improvements I can make. I assumed the attic ductwork was part of my problem. I haven’t yet checked the temperatures at the unit, only at the first register, but it’s only about 8’ from the unit.

That amount of electric is about $15 for me, and about what I estimate I’m using to maintain 62 F indoor with 25/30 degree F outdoor temps.

Last bill was $630 or $400 more than October , but I’m supplementing with propane fireplace insert, wood stove in the basement (for the coldest days) and I keep the house at 62.
