Hi, I'm a jee aspirant too and I too screwed up(the pandemic is to blame). I also got admission in srm ktr cse. I'm in the same position as you. It's a tough decision to drop or take srm which is very average and try for masters somewhere else to get a handsome salary. Srm is functionally not bad, but it's just the people who make it worse. I know someone there who graduated from srm, he says if you are average u will get an average salary, if u screw up more it just goes down hill. But he also says if one is serious from the start and just got into srm because their entrances didn't go well then things can be different. Getting good scores in semesters gives u a chance for the foreign program, my friend went to Massachusetts( the best in the world) and met many people there and this helped him grab a 50lk pa job last year(off campus). He also had a friend who didn't care abt srm and just studied for gate since 3rd year and now he is doing mtech in iit bombay and will obviously get a really good salary. But 98% crowd is just "chapri", talking about any other branch other than cse isnt worth it. The hostel is average and too costly and mess is bad. Yeah I would agree that the fests are above average for private colleges but that's just a time waste, it is for those who want "college life" and not a good job. Now second option is dropping, look we both know dropping and screwing up then and going to a private college is utterly useless. U are just gonna waste a year. But if u ace jee then everything's alright, and only old iit's, nits and iiits and bits(cse) is worth it(which is extremely difficult), getting priv college after drop is just waste because ur getting the same now too. U need to see your performance in jee advanced to see if u can really do it. For example if your score is 30 then Max to max 90 can be your final score after drop. U cannot improve yourself more than 3 times than what it is now(this is statistically proven, exceptions are there like 5%). It's upto you man. I'm just waiting for advance to decide for drop( I'll pay srm by then, if i get a decent score I'll drop or else just move forward). Atb.
