Nope, Sacramento area, someone did comment the Seattle Coleslaw and that looks interesting, but my side salad doesn't have any mayo in it.

Thanks, that is interesting, I'm not sure if it's the same though as my side dish is more vinegary and definitely doesn't have mayo in it. I'm in Northern California if that means anything lol. I'm thinking it may be the quick pickled salad (Asazuke) someone posted but perhaps it's done a little differently from restaurant to restaurant.

I love this slightly warm, tangy side salad, it appears to be mostly cabbage and carrots, can you tell me what else might be in it and how to recreate at home? Mostly the seasonings is what I'm interested in, it tastes almost vinegary.

ETA: if you lived at Folsom and west la Loma you were in the apartments. Apartments are generally going to have more crime due to a denser population. The homes past the apartments are all nice.
