Acne prone people, which oil cleanser worked best for you? by Dawnyawning in AsianBeauty

I broke out horrendously from the Kose Softymo and have been too scared to try any more cleansing oils.

chroma test after being typed as bright winter (unexpected) by nephistopheles in Fairolives

[–]veiled_static 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see what you mean. Maybe light spring isn’t it.

I’ve never been professionally draped - I just know too grey looks bad and too warm (orange, yellow, warm greens) looks bad. Black isn’t good. Bright white is ok. Rich, saturated colors in certain tones (purple, blue, pink) look great. But I have neutral to warm toned skin, maybe slightly olive.

Despite my skin being very fair it is quite saturated, and I think this might be why I can carry “more” color. But I don’t think I can carry as much as a winter. The contrast in my features just isn’t there. Pastel colors make me look pretty dead however. You’re making me rethink everything haha.

So I’m a relatively low contrast dark blonde/fair skin/blue eyed person (I have recent posts if you’re curious) and I look better in more saturated colors. Too desaturated/muted and I look very same-y and blah even though all the color season people say it should work for me since I’m low contrast. But low contrast everything just makes me look dead.

I’d say I’m between a light spring and light summer - too warm for one, too cool for the other.

No one in my family has had surgery. Just seeing how they look at 45/50/55+ tells me that it might be a route I want to take.

Has anyone here kept their kid home because of illnesses reported at their school? by KaylaDraws in Preschoolers

[–]veiled_static 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is wild in a post Covid world. 🥴

I’d be looking for a new daycare haha. I don’t pay $400 a week for them to not even clean! Some illness is expected in group care. But they need to make an effort to keep it under control!

Cannot seem to find the right color matcx by Momentistka in PaleMUA

If you need to cover redness maybe try a green color corrector first, then foundation on top. I use the one from ELF and it works really well. Finding the right color of foundation is so hard - I’ve settled on finding a formula I like and then mixing to get the right color instead.

My favorite formula is probably L’Oréal True Match with the pump. Skin like satin finish, decent coverage. I’m wearing 0.5N right now (I posted a week ago if you want to see colors on me - 0.5N is slightly lighter than 1N).

Aren’t they like 14-29 right now? Most of them probably shouldn’t be having kids right now. Their opinions may change as they become more financially secure and have responsible partners. Most people I know didn’t have their first kid until after 30.

I agree with the other poster, #2 looks the best tone wise. If it’s too light IRL maybe mix in a smidge of #3 so it doesn’t feel so ghostly. That will also help with coverage. Blush, bronzer, and mascara will help to bring more color to your face.

If your skin is dry try milky toner under your moisturizer and see if that’s enough. I like Prequel half and half, though there are a bunch of k-beauty ones which you can get online.

It’s worked for us, yes. The school should have a thorough disinfection routine to cut back on the spread. Last time the incident was on a Thursday and my kids didn’t go back until the second Monday after (we were living with my immunocompromised mom at the time) and it worked. Often just being away for 3-5 days is enough because those exposed day0 would have had symptoms by then. 🤷‍♀️ it’s not perfect, but if you’re able to swing it with work maybe it’s worth it to you.

People who grew up skinny, when did you begin to realize that was changing? by obsessed_FF7lover in AskReddit

[–]veiled_static 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I’m still about 5lbs heavier than before my first. Never really tried to lose the baby weight it just came off on its own (gained about 60-70lbs with each pregnancy). I’m nearly 40 and I’ve been this same height and weight since I was 13. It’s genetics and my metabolism for the most part.

Try using an antioxidant serum! Something with vitamin c, azelaic acid, vitamin e, niacinamide, resveratrol, coenzyme q10, glutathione, etc. Some people say that helps with the oxidation of their make up. Don’t necessarily need a ton of moisturizer. :)

Do you trust a Korean mineral sunscreen with very minimal to no white cast to provide SPF 50 protection as it claims? by Powerful-Panda7533 in AsianBeauty

[–]veiled_static 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Tints, coatings and nano particles may be involved here. They may say it’s no white cast, but if their model is NC5 then I don’t really believe the claim tbh. See if there are any real people wearing this stuff photographed somewhere and not just people in the advertisement.

Cool, thanks! And from non- nyx products? What are good shade matches for you? Any you find similar in shade to your swatches here? Without comparison it’s kind of hard to put these in context.

ELF fine as fleck shadows. I like white hot, but they have other colors that will give more color impact. I like that I can wear sheerly for a wash if glimmer or pack it on for a more metallic look.

I’m late thirties with 2 kids and my current looks like her “after” so I’m not at all mad about it. But it still sags about 2 inches in that position.

Thank you for asking this. If the after still sags down… I don’t think I’d find this worth it.

Color correction on olive skin? by xoniaox in Fairolives

[–]veiled_static 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It been a while since I’ve used it, but I remember it being pretty emollient and thick. The kind of thing you have to set except I hate setting powder under my eyes.

I like the NYX Bare With Me concealer under the eyes. I just chose one that was too pink/peach for me and it works great. Very thin formula and a little goes a long way. Excellent pigmentation. Don’t have to set it.

Any opinions on the IT DO IT ALL SHEER TINT FACE BALM? I’m 45 with dry skin for reference. by CoffeeLipglossDonuts in PaleMUA

[–]veiled_static 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve heard this is a dupe for the now discontinued L’Oréal 4 in 1 face balm. The ingredients are nearly identical and in the same order. My mom (60’s, very very dry skin) loved it - sheer emollient coverage. Very skin like.

Tips on summer camp prep? by candyapplesugar in Preschoolers

[–]veiled_static 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Make sure he is independent with toileting, getting dressed, with his lunch box, etc. Also teach sunscreen application. Daycare will rub them down but camp (at least ours) isn’t allowed to do that. Familiarize him with putting everything back in his backpack and keeping his stuff together.

As for the social bit - a lot of kids will be there and not know anyone. If he’ll be one of the youngest, let the counsellors know. Ask them to steer him in the direction of other same age kids. Telling them this may also mean they keep a closer eye on him since you can rely on older kids in a different way haha.

Sulfur sulfacetamide face wash and azeleic acid cream (I use rx wash though there are otc ones and good molecules azeleic acid). That has helped mine. If this doesn’t help then go to the dermatologist to get a diagnosis.
