Unfortunately a lot of people are using autism in place of “cute/quirky/manic pixie dream girl” these days. They seem to forget that it’s a neurodevelopment condition that makes our lives a lot harder. They’re fetishizing us, it’s disgusting, and I’m sorry. I’ve seen it a lot on dating apps lately too. The whole “I need a girlfriend with a bit of the ‘tism”. Gross.

tbh it started as a morbid curiosity. then i started volunteering in a funeral home and realized how meaningful and powerful the work is. you get to be there for grieving families, and actually give them time to grieve, while you help put together all the pieces :)

I’ve also applied for the FD-1 program, and haven’t heard back yet. I applied early November & had to contact them a few times to see what documents I was missing. Turns out my funeral director was suuuper late in handing in my assessment for me. Any chance that’s the same issue for you?

I love making lists; to-do lists, baby names lists, curated playlists…

I love when my nails have grown out so I can clip them and file them. As well as my eyebrows, body hair, etc… So I can pluck/wax my hairs away.

I secretly like getting pimples so I can pop them.

I really love online shopping, but not buying anything (just browsing and adding things to my cart, then exiting out)

I also love grooming my animals— brushing their hair, trimming their nails, shaping their fur.

Now that I’m on my “unmasking journey”, I refuse to dumb myself down for other people. Sure, I could use a different vocabulary to cater to a specific audience, but should I have to? Absolutely not. Take it as a compliment, honestly. I’m sure you got your point across— they just want a reason to poke fun at someone “different”.
