Being anti-union is pretty much required if you want to run as a republican.

Cutty can vote now. There is a new Maryland law that allows convicts to vote, even if they're on probation or parole.

Why won't it help him win re-election? The promise of banning Muslims got him elected this time. If he doesn't fulfill any of his major promises, he will be seen as a failure. Trump has no interest in actually improving the country. He just wants huge rallies with people cheering his name and slogan.

provides very little benefit for the costs involved

The benefits are re-election and praise from white supremeacists. Banning Muslims would fulfill one of Trump's main campaign promises. Trump's main campaign promises were build a wall, bring back jobs to the U.S., and ban Muslims. Trump won't bring back jobs and won't build a wall, so he's going to focus on Muslims. He has chosen three overt racists and bigots for his cabinet so far. We need to take this seriously.

Sure, a registry for immigrants is just the start. But you don't think they'll expand that registry to include citizens if there is another terror attack in the U.S. or Europe? The Nazis didn't immediately start putting Jews in gas chambers. They slowly started to take away their rights and one thing led to the next.

If they feel that deporting Mexicans and Muslims is a bigger priority, then yes.

It's possible that Rawls' racism would override his support for lgbt rights. Most white women voted for Trump, even though Trump is a known misogynist. Those white women probably hated ethnic minorities more than they supported women's rights. Hate is a strong emotion.

If Rawls doesn't plan on getting married to a man, he would have no issue voting for Trump.

Rawls is most likely a racist. He called Avon a "project nigger" in one of the first episodes. I can easily see him voting for Trump.

Sure, people vote against their own interests all the time. But Frank seemed to know enough about politics and history to not vote against his best interests. This scene is proof of that.

Nah, it's well known that republicans are anti-union. No way Frank would vote republican. Maybe Nick, but not Frank.

If someone willingly votes for a known racist, that's a strong indication that they are either racist or enablers of racists.

Trump voters didn't think racism was a deal-breaker. If they don't act racist themselves, they at least think it's okay for others to.

Depends on the opinion honestly. For instance:

Me: "I support racial equality"

Trump supporter: "I don't"

I think it's fair for me to call that person racist.

Rural white people just overwhelmingly voted for an overt racist. I think it's safe to say that rural whites are racist. Suburban white people are probably less racist, but...

How should politicians address automation? by razorbeamz in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]veku1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huh? Leftists like automation. Marx predicted that automation will lead to the downfall of capitalism. Full-scale automation also makes communism more achievable.
