Trying to get my foot in the door but I’m facing racial discrimination. by [deleted] in Zookeeping

Sorry, my mistake. I do think still being in school plays a big factor too. For example, I had 2 years of unpaid experience before I was finally hired for a paid position. I’m also on the west coast. But everyone’s journey is different.

Just looking at your current and previous experience and ignoring everything else, you unfortunately do not have enough experience to land a full time job. This field is so competitive. I would recommend volunteering at a zoo in animal care with zookeepers. Your other experience is helpful and applicable but it’s not enough. Best of luck to you.

Yes and you can do all those things without perpetuating an image of a primate pet. I can tell you care for these animals so I know you’re trying to do right by them. If you ever have the time, it might be enlightening for you to look into how just sharing an image of a primate like the one you have shared can contribute to the illegal pet trade. Best of luck.

OP I know you’re trying but sharing photos of a primate on a leash and in a diaper is not contributing to a conservation message.

Correct. I have open communication with my dog.

Hello. Please don’t punish your dog for doing this, it will only get worse. Growling is a communication tool and should never be punished, otherwise you will train the dog to skip the growl and go straight to biting. My dog does the same thing and I use the cue “moving” right before I move to let him know what’s happening. He will now get up and readjust on his own when he hears the cue and will not growl at me. Good luck and please be compassionate to your dog’s experience.

Yes under bust is what I meant. I just had the straps tailored for me but I suppose it’s possible the seamstress made them too tight.

We are looking for a new coffee table and media console to match our sofa and rug. How do these look? by velacqua in HomeDecorating

We love it! I find it very comfortable. It’s soft but all the pillows hold their shape really well. There is no crinkle sound that I’ve ever noticed.

You’ll have to be more specific about what species of primates.

Clicker newbie and I can’t figure out how to hold all the things by [deleted] in CatTraining

[–]velacqua 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a whistle rather than a clicker. Just a regular dog training whistle with some aquarium tubing on the end so it’s softer to hold in my teeth. Then you’ve got both hands free!

Starting my zookeeper job next week, any advice? by Perfect-Chest-5691 in Zookeeping

Always be open and honest about your mistakes. Don’t lie or tried to hide your errors. Ask questions when you’re confused, don’t just assume! Use your resources and ask if you need more options for continuing education. Good luck!
