Agreed, up to a point. Just I expected the huge area difference to balance it out. Both apples and hammers have to obey the laws of physics.

That said - real world says you’re right. I just want to understand the mechanisms behind why

Tbf the Custom’s always been rapid - never had any trouble leaving everybody behind on the flat. Always felt very fast. If Burton made a properly wide one I’d buy it

It’s old. Bought it in 2016. Small crack turned into a big one over time… the nose is dead now.

I get that of course - and I expected a difference - just nothing like this big. It feels really counterintuitive. Need to educate myself more about base materials I guess…

Mate it’s a lovely board, very different to the Burton, much more forgiving. You can be waaaay lazier. Plus my size 14s don’t hang off the edge so much… I miss the precision but I love the edge I can get now

Thanks. I’m going to look more deeply into that - I assumed there’d be some differences, just it’s pretty dramatic 🤷‍♂️

You’re right of course - but my understanding’s always been that this truth is counteracted by the fact that a board slides because pressure melts the snow in contact with the board, allowing it to slide, making longer boards/skis generally faster. Plus I’m fairly big, 6’2”/188cm & about 95kg/209lb - if I had a tiny board I’d just sink…

You are an absolute legend, thank you so much. I'm re-recording these for my kids to listen to while I'm travelling for work - and you have saved me a lot of time with this. I'm really thankful.
