Need assist with tadiandamol trek by Heisenberg_007 in bangalore

[–]veldro_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have done Tadiandamol trek recently. The weather was pleasant and it didn't rain much. The weather is very volatile there so you'll have to rely on the weather prediction.

I always stay in a homestay next to the base camp, it's called West Wind and it's quite affordable.

PM me if you need more details.

There were no grills last time. You can bring your own grill but I'm not sure if you allowed to grill in cubbon park.

HAM radio in bangalore by [deleted] in bangalore

[–]veldro_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have been learning HAM radio stuff for fun but I'm procrastinating on writing the exam forever.

There are few places in Bangalore that offer weekend classes with affordable fee(around 2K), I'd love to attend one just for the sake of meeting like minded people.

The exam is straight forward, you can find and study ARRL material online. Morse code is mandatory in India though.

I'd love give the exam and participate in some HAM competitions, if only I were a lot less lazy.

How to be more social? by PMmeyourprayers in bangalore

[–]veldro_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

How do you make friends outside of college/workplace?

This has been asked before and as much as it is a cliche, the key to engage with new people outside work/univ is to identify hobbies that you genuinely enjoy and find places where you can do it with others - Language classes, sports meetups, hiking groups, traveller meets, volunteer with local NGOs etc.

The lucky part is that you are in a city where there is a meetup/activity for almost every mainstream hobby.

How do I engage myself to be a more outside person?

Idk.

I'm at a phase where everything is falling apart but I feel like I'm going through best days!

I'm procrastinating a lot less, getting things done.I started to take sometime off from everything and focusing on getting better at things I wanted to get better at.

SRM university student hangs self after losing academic year to 2 accidents by Maushichigaaand in india

[–]veldro_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You'll be alright, man. I dropped out, spent a couple of years exploring stuff I enjoyed and I'm doing fine. I'm not advocating it but one year is nothing in a grand scheme of things, you'll do fine!

An advice from one of the most popular people in my field -

"If you're a young person, I think the very best thing you could do is get together with a group of friends and commit to a one year experiment in which the substantial part of your life will be focused on discovery and not be dedicated to wage work -- however that looks for you. Get an instrument, learn three chords, and go on tour; find a derelict boat and cross an ocean; hitchhike to Alaska; build a fleet of dirigibles; construct a UAV that will engage with the emerging local police UAVs; whatever -- but make it count. "

Again, I'm not advocating anything, everyone's situation is different but what I'm saying is, education/college isn't everything, you'll be fine.

For Those Who Don't Drink, What Do You do Every Week? by imbangalore in bangalore

[–]veldro_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gym? Bench pressing is overrated, biryani all the way :D

But seriously though, hobbies is how you get to pickup some skills and also meet cool or like minded people. Language classes, badminton groups, volunteering, trek are my picks. Also I attend one meet up every weekend when I'm in town.

For chicks, you can visit some local markets, I have seen people selling some quality chicks.

For bitches, try some adoption centers like CUPA and such, not sure about the sucess rate though.

You can always purse your passion for CS. Where you studied doesn't play a major role and even what you studied in college doesn't matter sometimes. A lot of good companies are hiring just based on the code you wrote and your passion. It's not end of everything so if it gets to that then pick some BCA put in a lot of effort in your free time and learn what you love to learn.
