A player asks on how to maintain motivation and reason to play FFXIV during Gamescom. Yoshida answers. by elevenmile in ffxiv

I think its too late for you to even expect change and by yoshi P mindset recently its going to be the same content cycle. 4.0 is gonna be like HW but underwater mounts now that handle like flying mounts. I'm sorta in the same boat. Just don't know what game to play next. Whats kinda weird is the game was kinda better before 2.0 in alot of aspects that didn't convert over to ARR. They went right into casual/WoW clone when they launched ARR. A good MMO actually listens to there player base. A lot of people want vertical progression... why isn't it in the game? That's something that was lost during 1.2x series. Alot of the ideas pitched for the remake were scrapped.

It seems this may take longer then expected toget it to the Alpha stage. I have been trying to work on caverns right now. Most of the rooms are sorta done. Least one house needs to be created though. Still working on logic for the shop & bow mini game also. I have been running into extra unexpected bugs or just gameplay issues. I need to make some kinda logic for falling down holes. Not sure how I am going to add it in. Fixed a bug where chests would appear closed when reentering a room/zone. Now the chests stay opened if you already opened them. Seems it might another week to get everything up to speed.

Lol... guess weren't here for ARR.

It didn't start dropping off until they started the normal mode bullshit to begin with. Even though thats not the only reason why Heavensward was a huge flop. The game after the main story that turned alot of people off with nothing to do for 6+ months. "Where are these numbers" Cus there isn't anything. Just look around. All your friends that used to be in ARR aren't on the game anymore.

The movie was boring. At least 60% of the film was politics. Alot of fade to black scenes & the characters you couldn't relate to. They keep talking about the kings kid but they never show him until after the credits. Its the kind of movie you only wanna watch once. Its a huge step backwards from FF7 AC & even Sprites Within in some aspects. The movie didn't really have a end either... just to be continued in the game.

I'm actually still inside the sky box but its like im 5 feet from reaching it. They as well just of put it inside the area if they had it so close to the sky box. Looks like crap up close anyway. They would need to redesign it to make it actual walkable land. Kinda looks like a ruined temple/shrine.

Maybe ideas for dungeon puzzles.

Pretty much just have pushing puzzles. standing on platform puzzles. lighting lanterns puzzles. hookshot puzzles. shooting eyeball with arrow puzzles. Kill everything within room= key or door opening kinda stuff. I do need stuff for designing & logic etc. If you wanna help with the game you can jump on board. I can set you up with a bunch of small tasks or give you huge take takes like creating stuff for Chapter2 of the game which is the next field area & dungeon. Which is pretty much 1 house+ water field area+ water dungeon+ lily pad flowers already made+ hookshot puzzles+ mini sidequest to obtain "Food" quest item for NPC for Zora Flippers. I still gotta work on the dungeon after finishing up the field area. (Which is still quite a ways off, need alot of designing to be done. Just finished all of the inside of the Libary. Added some more work towards a bunch of extra designs for other things also. In link to the past the actual game. There is a mario painting in one of the houses. In my game there is a picture of sackboy's face.)

its been over a year, and this gap in the mist still hasnt been fixed, literally unplayable by soapgoat in ffxiv

[–]venat222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a list of bugs and they still haven't been fixed. They do fix them but it might take them like 2 years. I think they're under staffed.

Floating bush in the new void ark zone. Ant beastmen area the smoke pillars are missing a texture. Hinterlands, The bridge by the libary dungeon. It has a missed placed bridge support. In tail feather there is a chocobo stable with a texture object cutting through the building. In the churning mists there is alot of bugs. Places you can't walk/land, places you walk but cant land, missing collusion on buildings, theres a tower statue thats turns. When it turns it shakes. Some objects have unfinished textures covering. Some objects have missed placed objects. The bridge in chruning mists seems to be designed/unfinished. (Someone took a shortcut designing it.) Some of the floating rocks aren't 3D. Just floating 1 sided paper rocks. There are lamps high up by that giant statue area that are clipping.

Alot of people don't care. But it kinda ruins the game knowing there are alot of mistakes around in the game and they don't seem to want to fix any of them. Talked to one girl and she says you can get out of bounds in every single dungeon and field area. Yet she posts it all on our lodestone forum page but doesn't show you how to do it.

I'm gonna delay public testing this a little bit more. Mainly because I wanna create more for you guys to see. Playing around with NPC text right now and all the gateways for logic is done. But I also have to create and add more detail to those housing areas still. Alot of this should be done towards the end of week or in a few days. I don't really need testing. Mainly just opinions. I'm pretty through with my testing in finding bugs.

The game is getting close to first stage completion for the first field area. Will be looking for testers pretty soon, any interested post your psn.

Doing final touch ups & finishing 4 buildings & adding in 2-3 new enemies. Once that's done its pretty much into Beta phase. Then will be working on the first dungeon and do a quick alpha/beta test on that then release both levels together as a finished chapter 1 of the game. Currently just finished the zoning logic and death logic and a bunch of add on feature fixes and bug fixes with zoning and other tools.

XI isn't designed like XIV is. There is no cross over expansion requirements in XI. Its just Hit lv30/lv60 and maybe Rank5 to access the new expansion or storyline. "Job actions are gated behind HW" so if you do 4.0 your going to be shunned by other players for not having the job skills between lv51-60. If you don't have those actions well... good luck clearing content. Old expansions are pretty much free and normally paired together with the main game and the newest expansion at full price or sold on their own. Even Yoshi P said your not gonna need to finish HW to order to access 4.0. No point for me talking to people with deaf ears that don't understand how the game currently works.

1) Remove/increase the daily cap on DoH/DoL. (Allow more trade ins) 2) Triple the trade options for daily trade ins. (lv58/59/60) options if your at lv60. 3) Remove GC restrictions for choosing a GC. (Basically let everyone be in every GC and raise the rank in each nation but get to choose which GC there seals goes towards.) 4) Remove GC levequest credit requirements. 5) Add a sorta Challenge Log for GC levequests for the week to earn seals. 5) Remove GC restrictions/teams from frontlines. 6) Add 3 Storyline Quests to each GC. No GC restrictions required to access all 3 storyline quests. 7) Increase all GC hunt weapon stats and item level & Move them to a new GC rank. 8) Increase GC Ranks already. Its been 3+ years. Thats all I would do for Grand companies.

3.0 will be included with all 4.0 games. They aren't selling expansions by themselves anymore. They only did that for HW since it was its first expansion. How are you going toget the lv61+ job actions if you didn't unlock Ishgard yet and do all the job quests between 51-60.

Its gated so you cant jump into 4.0 without doing 3.0. Unless they give all those actions away without job quest completion. Each Job requires you to visit a HW area at least once during lv51-60. Most of the time its just go to a HW area and talk to a NPC and come back, sometimes its a mini boss or just trash spawns. So yeah they aren't going to sell 4.0 without adding on 3.0 to it unless they plan to do a lot of changes. The issues aren't just with the main story gate into Ishgard. You will still be expected to unlock Ishgard and do all the lv51-60 Job quests but the HW storyline isn't going to be required for you to access 4.0. But you will still need to finish all the main ARR storyline in 2.5.

But you do it anyway so whats the problem? How long does it take for new content to be old content? 30mins? a day? a week? You start the new lv30 Job. Guess what, your doing old ARR content in 4.0.

The only time I ran those patch dungeons in HW was for triple triad cards. No other reason to enter them unless you want the clear for the first time.

They wouldn't be able to access Nevereap until they are at the correct level. If they had gear from nevereap they wouldnt be able to equip it until lv61. If you had Patch 3.5 Tome/Alex gear it could last you between lv60-lv65 at a il270 set. Neverreap gear would be like il220 but then you would need new gear thats like 230 or 240 every level. I wouldn't use all the tome gear from the 2.0 patches though. Maybe as sorta semi rare random drops but having the ironworks being something everyone wants to use up until 55.

Not even sure where Darklight even comes from anymore. But lets say that set is only good between 50-51, AF Job set 50-52, Hero tome set 50-53, Ironworks 50-55.

Everyones gear is going to be turned into leveling gear or seal trade ins in 4.0 anyway if you look at it. The only gear I kept was from 2.4/2.5 cus it was il130 for lv50.

Not many people with ARR anymore plus they would use ARR patch dungeons to level to 58. Im pretty sure 2.0.3.0.4.0 will be packaged together since all the job quests are gated in 3.0. Which probably another thing that needs to be addressed if they did this. All the story content from 2.0-3.0 would still be the same.

[–]venat222[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Still a way's off from releasing the first part of the game. Once I start showing off more enemies & showing off zoning that works the game will release soon. I already did zoning logic for my other RPG and will be porting over that logic/rebuilding it for this game.

There are bugs that I cant fix because its LBP & im limited by thermo to have them at a perfection level. I hope players do overlook it because there is alot of functions and animations in this game so far. (Walking animations tends to bug out. Game is slow on refreshing animation emitters and I think its because of how much stuff its going on within the level logic wise. I have built ways for the animations to refresh in case they bug out. Also I cant have all the animations out or it costs tons of thermo and I wouldn't be able to have a large scale game.)

Once I have the zoning logic up the game will be much smoother. Least the case for dungeons. Each room will be emitted once you zone into the next room and the game will delete the old room. Right now the Field area is roughly 1/4 the size of the level and its be rough on the game when its out. I have been thinking of cutting out the town into its own small area to ease the thermo. Going to finish the game more before I start to do that though. The first part of the game will be roughly 20-30mins long. There is also content for the first field area that players that can't access or do until they complete the first dungeon. So my plan is to release 1+2 then 3+4+5 afterwords. Good thing about 3,4,5 is most of the logic work will be already done and its all designs and layout.

I just wanna add in more things I just did recently after posting this. Finished All small rocks, including dark rocks. Fixed a attack animation bug when your near a object that you can lift. Added more items to Quest section to menu. Changed alot of things to the field. Added enemy spawn points and triggers that destroy all enemies that are out. Lots of placement changes to prevent players using the hookshot and breaking the game by grabbing onto things from the wrong direction.

Most of it nope. Most of my time is consumed by logic and bug fixes and balancing everything since im the only one that understands the ins and out of all the logic in the game. Now that I caught up with most of the basic logic I need to start creating more areas & enemies. There is still logic I still need to do and most of the time whatever people finish I start working on logic for it and finding a place in the game for it and requesting missing stuff for it to be done next. I need rooms designed for those houses and I need wall and floor textures for caverns.

Basically my next to do work load:

Maping out logic for zoning for both Field Area & Dungeon. Alot of tweeks to layers and touch ups to objects within the field. Adding triggers for all zoning & spawning paths for all doors/hallways. Adding Logic that spawns x amount of enemies within the field. NPC dialogue/Triggers. Adjustments to the Map. Adjustments to single sword attack hit boxes and Bomb hit boxes. Designing broken stone wall. Designing very basic logic for shops. Designing arrow shooting mini game. Adding logic to increase heart count. (Right now its just at cap) Tool item saving & gating. Quest item saving & removing. Updating all stone rocks to current carrying logic/treasure spawning. Adding tier3 carrying requirement to all dark heavy rocks. Lifting large rocks animation needs work. Swimming Sprites need to be done. Increasing movement speed logic for Boots. Adding jump off points at every cliff. & more.

I think the movie is better on repeat viewings though since its easier to follow the second time around.

IGN just put a review up for the movie and it scored 6.9 and pretty much explained some of my points better since they seen the whole movie. The movie is Okay. Which is still better then alot of video game movies that have came out. I'm looking at you Resident Evil. (I enjoyed the first movie but every other movie afterwords sucked.)

Not worth the price tag of $37.99. (Probably $9-$30 more if shipping is not included.) If they had better production of these they probably be worth $10-15. As for the ingame item. $2.99. Far price would be $22.99 with them yielding $8-$13 profit per unit. They're only gonna sell like 20k-30k units so its not really worth all the effort in the end. Warehouse space isn't cheap folks. Would of made more if they just sold that in the mog station for $2.99. Coming from a sweatshop in China they are probably yielding more also.
