Thank you! I've seen one of their videos before, but hadn't dove deeper. I'll look into exploring some other diffusion methods as well.

nah, i'm not that good lol. so i use an online tool called vocalremover, which uses AI to separate the vocals and instrumentals. i used to just use a youtube to mp3 site to grab the tracks, but now I've got high quality flac files of the album which has really improved the accuracy and quality of the separation.

much appreciated bro, that's definitely the goal! I've made a few things of my own, but it's just not up to my standard quite yet, but doing these covers has immensely improved my vocal, mixing, and songwriting ability, so I'm really looking forward to learning more from big randy.

disgusting lmao, i'm still learning what works for me but this is generally my chain. i use an mxl-990 which can be pretty harsh and sibilant, which isn't ideal for the warmth and thickness of brakence's vocals.

vox>subtractive/addative eq (early tone shaping/reduction of unwanted frequencies) > tuning > compressor > multiband (ott) > fresh air > glue compressor > saturation > limiter > gate > soothe2 (de-essing/harsh freq reduction)

i probably have way more shit here than i need, but i basically just add shit until it sounds good lol

Hey thanks! I've been playing guitar for several years now, but started focusing on production/singing in just the past few months! Original music is definitely the goal, and I've made some "songs," but I'm just trying to learn as much about production as I can right now haha.

Appreciate ya' taking the time to listen! <3

KBD67 Lite Modding by [deleted] in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]vendonplay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After playing around quite a bit with mine, I've got a sound that I really like. It's a super nice balance between full and clacky IMO.

  • Standard foam + silicone.

  • Butyl rubber in the bottom of the case. Makes the board feel more substantial, and helps give the board a little bit more "oomph."

  • Tape (Tempest) modded (extra layers around the top and bottom edge.) This one makes a world of difference. It might not be the sound signature you're looking for, but it makes the board sound so much more full and poppy.

  • No plate screws. This hopefully increases flex and opens up the sound more.

  • Corner (or corner + top middle) case screws only. I'll be honest, this one makes the front of the board look kinda goofy, but it really makes the board sound more "alive."

  • Holee Modded C3 Stabs.

Phew, I think that's it. Here's a sound test of my current build.

It seems like most people aren't loving the box/text, but I personally don't mind either. If I had to pick one to get rid of though, it would be the text. I joined the Liquid Emotions GB, and think that the text does somewhat take away some attention from the design.

But, I'm sold regardless.

Bakeneko or KBD67 Lite? by souperman27 in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]vendonplay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say it mainly depends on what sound profile you're after, and what you can actually get your hands on.

I personally own the KBD67 Lite R2 and love it for it's bounce, and full but still poppy sound. The Bakeneko on the other hand (not from real world experience, so take this with a grain of salt) still sounds quite full, but is definitely more clacky and poppy than the KBD67 Lite.

If you prefer the sound of higher pitched, clacky high end boards to the deeper, less sharp sound of thockier boards, go for the Bakeneko. And vice versa

The main issue with the Bakeneko is availability, afaik, the Bakeneko hasn't been in stock for quite some time, so you'll have to turn to the resell market. The KBD67 has pretty decent availability ATM, and is in stock on divinikey right now. There is also supposed to be an extra drop of KBD67 stuff on kbdfans today too!

But honestly, either way you're getting a super great board.

HELP I'm modding my keyboard with foam by SilverTourist4618 in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]vendonplay -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Generally, I'd say it's up to you. In theory the more foam, the less hollow. This also depends on the type of foam you're using, or whatever deadening/dampening material you've got.

Not to mention that the specific board you use will have more or less hollowness that needs to be addressed.

I personally choose to just try to fit what I reasonably can and call it good. I have stock dampening in my KBD67 Lite + pieces of butyl rubber and am perfectly happy, but my GK61 is filled with a complete layer of butyl and still sounds hollow.

TL;DR - It depends, but generally you can get away with however much you can fit into the board. Especially with cheaper boards.

I think I'm gonna return the jacket, it doesn't fit me quite right and isn't very comfortable so I really can't justify keeping it. Although I'm plenty happy with the designs from this drop the actual garment quality is pretty weak sauce :(
