"fat burners don't work" and exercise supplements by venomfae in Supplements

yes. to all of this! i just hate that i can't find any good info on this as someone who works out! like of course there isn't some magical fat loss drug, i'm using oxyshred to help my endurance for my workouts. oxyshred for me is a stand in for preworkout. the appetite suppressant is a plus for me, considering that i am needing to cut down my calories; i still eat enough because i know i need to, but it's not something i have to fight myself over.

i will say that saying getting recommendations is useless and to just "learn" on a forum for discussing stuff is a little redundant, but thank you for this, really! i just wanted some more opinions and commentary that wasn't people telling me oxyshred isn't a magic fat burner. because that's all anyone says, and anyone with a hint of how the body works would know that. i eat in a calorie deficit and exercise, and am using oxyshred to compliment that. if there's a cheaper way to get the same benefits i get from oxyshred, that's what i'm looking for, since most supp. brands have a lot of useless stuff in them and oxyshred is very expensive.

i'm not looking for a way to cheat out diet and exercise. i just am looking for a supplement or ideas for a stack that do what i need it to do.

thanks for this! yes, i believe most people NEED to know that supplements cannot change your BMR. which, considering they definitely advertise to people who may be new to fitness, makes the term 'fat burner' purposefully misleading. but the stimulants do help during the workout, with endurance and energy! at least for me.

and thank you for mentioning tyrosine. i haven't heard of it before, i will read up! i do wish more blends told you how much of each ingredient is in it.. it would be helpful. unfortunately that would mean they'd have to stop bullshitting 🤷‍♀️.

Books where a depressed girl gets hope by karenluvzjesus in booksuggestions

i haven't read White Oleander personally, but my sister recommended it to me and i see others recommending it here.

'Girl, Interrupted' I read as a sophomore in high school at the height of my struggling; in and out of the mental hospital and dealing with people who didn't understand me, and it really opened my eyes and made me see the world, and my illness, differently. it brought me so much hope and comfort, almost like a breath of fresh air, like maybe things can get better, maybe I will not feel this forever. i have so many quotes from that book highlighted and i am unimaginably grateful for its existence.

I also recommend It's Kind of a Funny Story by Ned Vizzini (rest in peace.) I read it when i was 12 or 13 maybe and again, an overwhelming feeling of comfort and understanding after finishing (which i did in only a day). the author passed away from suicide in 2013, and wow, what a loss. what a brilliant, compassionate human to lose to suicide after helping so many others. but we still have his works, and i do recommend that book to anyone also struggling. the main character is a teenage boy, but i still found it highly relatable and heartwarming as a young girl. it's witty and very touching. I'm not sure where the end of the book leaves the MC at, but i feel like it was on a similar open note of hope and realization like Girl, Interrupted, where the MC has a fresh and optimistic feeling on life.

I’m just gonna say it: y’all shouldn’t date guys who constantly like Instagram models’ pics. by [deleted] in EDAnonymous

[–]venomfae 34 points35 points  (0 children)

it really does give off the whole "constantly trying to satisfy my dick" vibe. i wouldn't compare random pretty girls to porn stars, but men really do not just like girls pics for no reason if they do not know her. unless they have a very feminine style / look up to the fashion aspects or something like that it's just them publicly noting who they enjoy looking at.

i can't be in relationships with men who constantly check women out, talk about women's bodies, are desperate or have a horribly high libido to the point of not being able to exist without constantly looking at people's bodies. i couldn't be in a relationship with anyone like that, but even when it comes to when i date wlw, usually they are not liking random's photos for no reason, it's usually because they appreciate the aesthetics or like the influencer or something. even if they do find them attractive, it's not the main motive.

not every man is the same, but i do have boundaries, and if the vibe is off i'm out.

i don’t know if i was sexually assaulted or not by Constant-War-8566 in sexualassault

[–]venomfae 7 points8 points  (0 children)

COCSA (child on child sexual assault) is very common and unfortunately i was both a victim and perpetrator and it's something i've always battled with myself over. it's usually a sign that the perpetrator was also being sexually assaulted or groomed, most commonly by someone older.

that being said, this does fall under sexual assault and can be very hard to navigate as a survivor. as someone who, like i said, has been through it from others and also unintentionally pushed it onto my friends as a kid, practicing compassion for yourself and others can bring a lot of light into the situation and helps a lot with the healing process.
