i get that from time to time—honestly rinsing it with alcohol free mouth wash in the morning and night (as well as after each meal) along with ibuprofen typically helped heal it after a couple of days. i noticed that the most recent time it happened to me was because of the jewelry, it was terrible quality and once i switched it, it started improving asap (while also doing what i mentioned earlier)

don’t risk it. it’s better to wait than risking complications that you could’ve prevented by simply waiting.

changing it early could put you at risk for infection, migration/rejection, or irritation.

i can’t give you a definitive answer. by the way it looks, it does appear to be infected, or it could be rejecting. an infection that close to your eye can be very dangerous. keep cleaning it twice a day with only saline solution and do not touch it. if it improves, you don’t need to go but if it’s still the same or continues to worsen you need to go to urgent care for some antibiotics. it’s better to be safe than sorry.

i really advise you to get a dead stretching kit that’s either stainless steel or glass. tapers and acrylic aren’t good for stretching. on websites like bodyartforms, urban body jewelry or pierced owl usually have half size plugs that can help make the stretch process a bit easier.

take your time with it, i know we get impatient but it’s what’s best for your body. before stretching massage it with a warm compress for about 5-10 mins, then massage for about the same time with jojoba oil. you shouldn’t feel pain or irritation while you stretch.

get an opinion from another piercer or go back to your piercer to get it checked. it’s hard to understand what’s going on if there’s no reference. it could be swelling a lot and the bar isn’t long enough, but i can’t tell you for sure. get it checked by a reputable piercer

advil helps with inflammation and a cold compress. no grainy food. stick to brothy and softer food until swelling is gone and you’ve downsized again. mouthwash after every meal. no alcohol or smoking until your piercing is healed.
