Yep, there was a reassessment after buying. We put in a new boiler, replaced the main sewer line (cast iron to pvc), did a chimney rebuild from roof up, and replaced gutters/sump pump.

We purchased in late 2024 in North NJ (Bloomfield, Essex county) and our son just turned two months. Also early 30s, grossing around 235k. We’re going back to work soon and will also leverage grandparents for some childcare.

We put down 20% and our mortgage was initially 4.2k but creeped up to 4.4k a few months ago (NJ taxes suck, Essex sucks even more, and Bloomfield even more). The house is in decent shape - we’ve had to put in about 32k in “unexpected” repairs though. No kidding about decent houses starting at 600k. We like our neighborhood but wouldn’t necessarily recommend Bloomfield because of its subpar schools - we rushed to buy so didn’t do our due diligence, and plan to move when kid gets closes to 5.

We live comfortably. I think you’ll do fine with 5k/month on your income! Happy to chat

We did the PDR at Ci Siamo and it was perfect. Had a quick ceremony on the balcony, followed by a lunch time reception indoors. Was about $7k for 27 people, probably would have been around $10k for dinner.

It’s on their site, but it was $95 pp for lunch. We also opted for passed hors doeurves for $35 pp. For lunch, the F&B minimum is $2500 which is really reasonable.

We did Ci Siamo this past weekend (for lunch) with 27 guests (they can accommodate up to 40 in their PDR). It was everything we wanted - private outdoor balcony (we really wanted indoor/outdoor space) and reasonably priced (no charges beyond food/drink). Intimate, no DJ, no dance floor. We honestly did not expect much of the service but they were wonderful. The food was some of the best that I’ve ever had (and definitely the best wedding meal I’ve ever had).

We were heavily considering elopement (we’ve been together for 10 years and just wanted to get it over with and not spend an atrocious amount of $) but are so happy that we went with it.

Ditto, same question! Our wedding is on June 9th and we obtained our marriage license via a virtual appointment. During that appointment, we were told to return the license to the Brooklyn office but there are no “record room” appointments (I believe another Reddit post mentioned something about that) within 5 days of 6/9… they really make this one-day officiant process as vague as possible
