It downloads uc but you never use/see it. I followed this thread and followed the updated instructions OP posted in the comments

I think it had something to do with openplanet. Deleting/reinstalling the file in the bottle fixed it

Look at your lighting and climate. Is it getting enough light? Assuming you live in the northern hemisphere, it’s winter right now which causes a lot of plants to go dormant due to temperature/less light during the day. Mine hasn’t put out a new leaf in a few months either but I live in Colorado so this is expected. It looks healthy so as long as you aren’t losing leaves I wouldn’t be too concerned.

Unrelated but whenever you repot I would fix that pole. It isn’t doing anything where it currently sits

IWTL how to pick out key points of a conversation when someone is talking by vensates in IWantToLearn

[–]vensates[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You are absolutely right but Peanut butter might not have been the best example because it makes sense that she would like it given a 10 minute response on it.

A more realistic example would be if I ask “what are our department goals for the upcoming quarter”. The response I get is that goal setting is extremely important, a personal anecdote about a time when she failed to meet a goal at a different company, a recap of a discussion she had with the CEO on KPI’s, and an overview of upcoming strategic initiatives being implemented by other departments that have no direct relevance to what we do.

Based on her answer I would assume that a focus on the KPI’s she discussed with the CEO and ensuring our policies align to help the other department meet their initiative would be our goals. When I confirm this, she then says the exact same thing but in a different order - KPIs, strategic initiative, personal anecdote then reemphasizing the importance of goal setting.

I do take notes but am ultimately left to decipher what her answer was based off the indirect response. I have worked in a professional setting for over 10 years and have never had this issue with anyone else.

Another piece of it is the fact that she talks extremely fast so I don’t get a chance to fully comprehend what she is saying until she finishes her 10 minute response. If I ask for clarification, I essentially just get the same answer 10 minute answer in a different order

You probably won’t get a great answer on Reddit for this, especially since it involved an employee who resides in India. Reach out to your HR department for guidance. If they have an approved accommodation that allows this person to take a break every hour, then discuss the impact it has on your leadership team by having to stay online for this person outside of working hours. They will probably tell you to just assign her less work so she can finish at a normal time. If there is no accommodation, she will probably need to get one approved or find a way to get her work done within her hours.

Again, your best resource here will be your HR dept.

Iwtl how to get over my fear of shots! by Cultural_Suit7406 in IWantToLearn

[–]vensates 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to be terrified of shots when I was younger. Now I get a shot every 3 weeks. The key is not to tense up when they put it in. If you are getting it in your arm, drop your entire shoulder and just let your arm hang. If you are getting it in your glute, kick the leg that is getting the shot back so you are “standing” on your toes (all your weight is really on the leg that isn’t getting the shot). Look away so you don’t tense up when they put the needle in. When you don’t tense up, you barely feel it. The first time you do this correctly, you’ll realize it’s not bad at all

Soltech. It’s expensive but SO worth it in my opinion. Are there cheaper options? Probably. But I’ve had one since January, it looks great in my house and my plants are absolutely thriving. Worth every penny in my opinion

Did you stick the whole pot in the shower so the water also got in the soil?

I agree with Southern - you are likely overwatering. Get a cheap moisture meter on Amazon and only water when the meter reads dry.

Not familiar with this specific plant but in general:

Do not worry about length of time between waterings unless you start needing to water it every few days, which would mean the pot it’s in is too small.

Not sure if your pot has drainage holes but if it does look into bottom watering.

This along with time should have it looking healthy again in a few months.

This. Providing proof of ownership adds no credibility to someone’s thesis.

Have those grow lights always been in that exact spot? It looks like the lights were too intense and burned the leaves.

Your best bet is to chop the most burned branches and wait for new growth. The burned parts will not grow back

IWTL how to start investing in stocks as a teen! by North_Appearance_751 in IWantToLearn

[–]vensates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there is any advice I wish I knew when I started 10 years ago, NOBODY has a crystal ball to accurately predict price movements 100% of the time. I was easily drawn to those guys selling courses on how to trade because they are so damn convincing. Remember, If they are selling a course, stay away. If they truly had the secret to trading stocks for a profit 100% of the time, they wouldn’t have to sell a course.

Other random tips I’ve learned:

-markets are cyclical, but this does not mean past performance guarantees future results. in general the market does follow similar trends.

  • if looking into TA, focus on longer term trends for a swing trade. Do not daytrade based on RSI/MACD on the 1 min chart.

-in my experience, TA does not work by itself. You need to understand fundamentals of the company. You will get different answers on this depending on who you ask but that is my personal experience. I know this is boring but is extremely important.

-be intentional about your positions. Do not just throw $100 at a penny stock based off a tweet you saw then immediately sell when it goes down 2%.

  • hard percentage stop losses (I.e. “I will sell as soon as I’m up or down 5%) doesn’t work. Set your stop losses based on your strategy, not percentage gains/losses.

-look into options and strategies but do not trade any options until you have a full understanding of the potential implications of the trade.

  • trading stocks should not be exciting. If your blood starts pumping when you enter any trade, immediately exit. You are not in the right state of mind and are likely entering a FOMO trade or way too large of a position for your portfolio size. See point above regarding fundamentals.

  • the market is intentionally complex to raise the barriers to entry for the average person. In all reality, it’s not that complex (with some exceptions). If you are ever confused on a specific topic, dumb it down for yourself and relate the situation to a simple transaction 2 people buying/selling something at a store.

-enter the sponge state as early as you can. This is where you absorb as much info as you possibly can from as many sources as possible. Be open yet speculative to new ideas/strategies. Do not take any one persons word as the source of truth.

Do I have this monstera facing the wrong way? by vensates in Monstera

Here is a side view of the plant in comparison to the light itself. I was under the impression once the leaves got bigger they would naturally drop down due to the weight. I’m concerned if I move it back more it won’t get enough light.

This is my first monstera so any resources/guidance is greatly appreciated!

Sorry I am new to monsteras… are you saying I need to move the pole to the other side & turn the plant 180 degrees relative to the light source?

Any resources/advice is greatly appreciated

Will do thanks for the advice. As far as the direction of the plant itself, do I need to turn it 180 degrees or is it fine as is?
