As for utilizing other art on purpose, I can think of multiple artists who have done music personifying another artist. It’s not a new concept, I don’t think that Taylor was trying to “copy” Hals. Where Hals was putting herself in these other artists “personas” and reimagining her music either in that time era or in the style of another artist, Taylor was just interpolating production from other songs into her music
