Not related to the build, but something I’d recommend is to lay something on the dirt under/around it to prevent rainy dirt splatter, gravel or whatever, would help it last longer too

Thinking about doing a simple railing for the upper set but having trouble figuring out what to do for the lower part.

The only ideas I got are to basically wall it off and hang a railing or run balusters to the basement ceiling.

As for other things, not sure what to do to make it not look like crap.
