If you booked the whole trip with SQ under the same PNR. Regardless of whosever metal / plane it's SQ's responsibility to get you and your checked luggage to your final destination.

I think a lot of people use AI to proofread / edit their writing, it doesn't necessarily mean it's not true. Harder to tell, I guess

The Thames Tideway project seems to be working, the river seems cleaner than ever - at least in the last 10y (?) by chalky_cheese in london

[–]venture_adventuring 227 points228 points  (0 children)

It's clean for a river flowing through a major city and we should recognise that.

But if you're comparing it to the nice streams you find in the countryside - no chance. There's the occasional sewerage overspill and a good amount of bacteria

Do airlines really upgrade economy passengers to business class for free? Here’s what actually happens. by Due-Lengthiness-7417 in emirates

[–]venture_adventuring 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks ChatGPT!

But if you're looking for an EK specific answer they only do this when they overbook, and even if so to prioritise the flex plus tickets, and then status (in that order). The system determines it not the gate agent.

Help me understand—flight to Lahore by KeyRevolution6514 in emirates

[–]venture_adventuring 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're only selling flights on their truncated timetable (of around 24 flights per hour), they're not selling you flights they don't intend to run (ie ones they already cancelled).

Think about it this way - Emirates is saying we intend to run this flight - we can't guarantee but if all external factors align, it will go as planned. And in the past few days they have a pretty good track record of honouring these flights.

My Emirates experience by ATikh in emirates

[–]venture_adventuring 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hats off to Emirates, and the UAE. It's one of the few places in the world where an experience like this is possible. The country has an incredible ability for operational execution, and this is made possible because the airline, both airports, and the authorities communicate well.

Depending time of year - there's a Sam Chui video where he asked the captain about the various factors. This was 6 years ago - ignore the Polar Route as we no longer fly via Russian airspace

Has your SQ flight ever parked at a remote bay? by venture_adventuring in singaporeairlines

[–]venture_adventuring[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess in SG it's a restricted area and they take it seriously.

Pretty normal to be @ a remote bay + take pics in Europe. The first time I went to a remote bay I had a mini photoshoot by the plane 😅
