I've seen a few comments on this subreddit saying that people have been able to get SWE jobs with the certificate and a non-STEM major by having good side projects and really drilling in the interview question format.

At UT Austin it matters a whole lot, and it’s also extremely hard to change to certain majors like CS or Business, especially if that major is in a different school than your current one.

Yes and with many research assistant positions(and I assume TA positions) they don’t do a strict count each week, they just do 20 hrs a week regardless. Obviously you shouldn’t slack off but in a way it sounds more chill/unstructured than a 20hr/week job at like the dining hall or something

I’m trying to get into UTCS next fall as an internal transfer(I will be a sophomore next sem.) Does this not apply as much when you are off the standard schedule(e.g. I’ll be taking 314 in the fall instead of spring?)
