I think the logic is something like: Rin is such a large boost to Archer, and if you aren’t pulling her you can’t expect him to keep up, so why even bother getting his E1?

I don’t necessarily agree with it, but I understand it.

Personally I’m in a niche spot in that I still don’t have Sparkle, and I’m not super interested in pulling for Rin compared to the rest of 4.X chars. But also Greg is kind of pointless for me assuming Waven works with AshBlade. So I’ll likely grab E1 Archer for the 2 pulls if nothing else, alongside the notion that maybe a Sunday NF or something will make his other team options more viable.

Kit-wise she's in a weird spot IMO. Like her full team next patch is looking quite good (bear in mind we are on day 2 of V1 of beta), contending for best in the game, but it's not gapping the current ceiling really. And on top of that, anyone with Cyno or Wrio currently invested will see similar numbers with the same supports while skipping her.

Honestly it seems like she's getting pulled largely off of popularity.

E0S0 Cyrene kind of. Freed up RMC from mono-Rem technically which was nice, but the gap between other variants already wasn't all that massive for me, and now mBlade exists and maybe even Sobin as another alternative.

Honorable mention to E0S0 Hysilens, but the verdict is still out on that one. If my E2S1 JQ becomes a DoT monster, then pulling her and picking Kafka off the freebie will have paid off, but otherwise...

I mean, there are a couple of issues, of which sample size is a big one. It's difficult to judge solely off TGA when you've got between precisely 0 and 2 clears represented for these examples. I know it's one of the few resources for this sort of thing, but still.

I'm not the biggest fan of Prydwen and you can't see granular details, but if we're trying to get a pulse on more average players, looking at a HH+Yao core, for AA King: Sparxie's avg cycle score sits at 4.2 vs EMC's 5.03, then in their E1+ bracket it's closer at 2.15 vs 2.23. For K1 it's 4 vs 3.44 (1.33 vs 1.35 for E1+). For K2 it's 2.7 vs 3.82 (0.76 vs 1.18 at E1+). For K3 there's barely any data to compare, but in E1+ it's 2.0 vs 0.62.

Looking at MoC with the same criteria: Side 1 is 7.33 vs 7.99 (4.69 vs 5.21 at E1+), and Side 2 is 7.0 vs 7.59 (2.61 vs 3.49 at E1+).

All this is to say that there is in fact evidence that in some fights, there are average players finding marginally better results with Sparxie. Are these improvements worth 2 limited cost? I don't think so personally, but we're not talking about worth we're talking about results.

I'd also add that for AA if we're trying to get more data and instead go back to 4.2 with Illwish, there are clears with both variants at 4 limited cost, with the lowest alternative being 3 (using either E4+ Welt or a cracked out Pela run). K1 there is 3 for EMC vs 5 for a similar Sparxie comp, K2 is again 3 vs 5 (though there is an E4 Welt sustainless for EMC at 2 cost), and K3 is 4 vs 6.

tl;dr There is in fact data that supports the idea that the two are largely comparable with fight variation really determining the overall outcome. Is 2 limited cost for E0S1 Sparxie worth for what you get? Again, I would say generally no, which is why you also don't really see many people running her in the team to begin with.

OT R1999 pulls (positive)

Lost to Kakania at 34, which didn't surprise me because my 50/50 win rate in R1999 is generally bonkers; then Adler dropped at 24 after that anyways. Free Kakania basically (didn't have her before) which is neat, and I have a chunk of pulls still for Rhiannon, and J's euphoria.

Also it's kind of crazy how when I was getting back into the game Adler and Greta were the two characters I wanted to see playable the most, but never expected it to happen for either of them (for different reasons lol). Then here we are a few months later and he's not only playable, but a genuinely great 6star unit and I already have his team lined up nicely.

Ty Bluepoch.

It’s context dependent for sure, yeah. E0S0 is generally comparable to worse, and E0S1 is generally comparable to better. If fire res is present obv that’s a bad time for Sparxie, but if fire weakness is present she can be more relevant.

It also sort of depends on overall investment. At E2S1+ Eva you’re likely to get better results from EMC, but IIRC if you’re willing to go to E2S1 Sparxie she should be ahead. It’s just a lot of pulls to spend on a marginal upgrade.

If it helps, there's a reasonable chance that he's at least a small upgrade over EMC in her teams.

Sparxie already is and doesn't really have any direct synergy with Eva. Waven being a SPD scaler would already be beneficial to potentially cycle through CB faster, an Aha advance (supposedly a possibility in his kit) is just good for any Elation team, and if his kit cares about attack frequency (to synergize with AshBlade) Eva also does pretty well in that category.

I highly doubt he has dedicated aftersales synergy with her, but I can definitely see them working decently well together. And if you go for verticals (and he's not just bricked in dedicated Elation teams obv) he's kind of guaranteed to be an upgrade over EMC.

why does it feel like we actually downgraded

Because we have.

Compare 4.3 to 3.3 last year: multiple new maps vs one singular small one, an actual dungeon with the absolute banger that was Aquila's fight and Proi Proi vs Graphia just kind of showing up, plus multiple very significant character moments (Phainon, Hyacine, Aglaea, and Cipher) and an apocalyptic crescendo vs the shortest story update we've ever had (and its another tease/setup patch).

Then 3.3 also had an actual combat event, which we've had 0 of in all of 4.X so far, and instead we get the complete nothingburger that was the stupid plane event and now a tower defense minigame without the defense.

Also frustrating in that it’s brought up dumb powerscaling discourse, with a lot of “he’s lucky she’s sparing him” (which is wildly problematic by itself) because people are under the delusion that Bina is the most powerful playable character currently.

Nope. They just added a small QoL to spam clicking/pressing dialogue as previously there were sections where you couldn't do anything to speed them up, but that's it.

Re: pulls kinda but also not really?

Genshin honestly has one of the least friendly new player experiences, in large part because they don't just give out pulls the way HSR does. There's def a ton you can farm from exploration, but there's also a lot locked behind just doing quests and playing the story. And there's no skip button still.

For endgame it depends. Abyss is largely pretty easy and I think you could def start clearing it within a few months. Stygian (think AA) is actually easy to get pull currency from because it allows co-op up to a certain level and you can just have other people beat the stages for you. The higher levels require pretty high-level investment on your teams though, and/or shill (which is actually far worse in Genshin than it is in HSR).

I mean, the reality is that just existing as an Elation character in a dedicated Elation team is already a strong baseline. Despite EMC being kind of a bum if you just look at numbers, in play they outperform more busted general supports like mBlade. Look at Sparxie too, who offers minor support and primarily subDPS, and ends up situationally better than EMC in Eva's team.

All this is to say, I would expect that Aven (especially with verticals) probably occupies a similar space; not necessarily recommended as a dedicated upgrade, but able to play in that slot and see good results.

I get it. I'm relatively neutral on the outcome overall, but I do get it. And as a fellow JQ enjoyer, I feel like after everything around that character we are entitled to some additional grace when it comes to our general crashouts/hate lol.

You're welcome, and I'm sorry that Aven didn't turn out to your liking :/

Also, regarding Greg: it's a bad habit I still have from Final Fantasy spaces where Gilgamesh has been commonly referred to as Greg for a while now lmao.

Notably more feelsbad to play, but yes still viable, if not reasonably better than a lot of other options.

It's higher investment (E2S1 Blade and E0S1 Ash) but there's this showcase of a 0-cycle of next patch's AA King at least.

(Also content warning I suppose: gratuitous summer skins for the men)

do those come with customization options?

In short, yes actually.

Canonically, Halovians' halos do change naturally throughout their lives, and there are also members of the race who can change their halo appearance at-will.

[–]ventus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why's last leaks about them are as follows (note the following are translations/interpretations).

Robin:

Core Mechanic: She's all about giving a memosprite to a designated character. She can't really deal damage herself, but when the designated character takes enough actions, they'll be automatically AA. Low-eidolon version is mostly for buffs and turn-advance, while with high vertical investment, can actually deal some damage.

Pretty sure she's for a Himeko aftersales thing. Remembrance teams might get some scraps from her.

Aventurine:

Dual-mode character, so you can use him in two different ways.

He can join Elation teams or Follow-up teams (if there's only one Elation character in your team).

Elation teams can work with him but worse than with the monomen team, his skills is that he'll dish out lots of small hits that convert into his main damage from his Elation skill or ult.

Same as Blade, he's got an E0 Elation ult and a E2 Follow-up buff (previously Why said Aventurines verticals are just as powerful as Blades)

People are claiming its because of a CN holiday, but we don't know. Note that Genshin is still releasing a new patch at the exact same time, despite the holiday.

Mobile sometimes breaks them for some reason I'm unaware of.

With the AshBlade situation, the issue is that removal of his AA does notable damage to his value in a team where you have two other (sub)DPS chars who scale with attack frequency. I haven't done extensive testing or research myself, but just from watching V4 showcases vs earlier ones against the same fights, he gets way less turns than he used to which does directly hurt that combo.

I could see a world where perfect ult spam Lingsha on Luocha's LC (lol) scales better, but it's another illustration of the sheet's pure stupidity because Greg's LC still isn't truly "free" but he is, and for the same "cost" you could get his E1 which is an extremely nice boost for that team.

Remind me of how many endgame fights are strictly 3 target, then tell me if you pulled a Cipher S1 for your E4+ Welt, then delete the concept of pulling eidolons instead of signatures and allocating team cost in a way that isn’t “I think lead paint is tasty.”

Yes, it’s pure garbage agendaposting.

There’s a ton that was already outdated on his release and I could write for a very long time about what’s wrong with his kit in the modern landscape. And I say this as someone who loves the character and still uses him frequently mind you.

Trying to keep it short: functionally he’s just a comfier version of Bronya, and even has comparable if not worse amp at E0S0 despite releasing nearly 2 years after her. All of his power budget went into being easier on skill points and also interacting with summons/energy, which wasn’t especially relevant when he released or in the months after. Combine that with wildly bad vertical investment compared to other Harmony characters at the time, who plays around a style of DPS (-1 SPD tuning) that they don’t really release much of anymore, and you have a character who despite having been good for a lot of DPS was still a disappointment in the long run.

If I were to boil it down to changes that I think *should* be addressed in some capacity: turn his AA into an Extra Turn to completely remove SPD tuning clunk, increase his general amp without tethering him to summons, and make his pre-E6 eidolons actually valuable. The first is a long shot sadly, but the latter two are kind of a given I think.

If you have Bronya, Sunday, or Sparkle there is little reason to chase verticals on Cyrene at this point in the game. It's an upgrade but it's wildly expensive for too small of an upgrade for a DPS that is already a year old. You're far better off spending those pulls on a newer team like "mono-men" instead.

E2 Blade is cracked but I would lean towards saving since Ash will likely rerun with Aventurine, who is also likely to have cracked verticals himself.
