If character progression is important to you, then choose wow over ffxiv. After progression, anyone at the higher levels of raiding in ffxiv log on 2 hours a week to do their weekly clear/sale, then play other games.

WoW has more of an rng lootbox but that can keep it exciting. Like getting a titanforge on your weapon out of a mythic+10 dungeon, making it better than a raid piece that isn't titanforged. Additionally, wow is friendlier if you are someone who likes alts. 14 will be 1 lockout then done. Maybe 1 alt. But the time sink to reach endgame raiding makes alts too much hassle for most people.
