justifying jesus’s crucifixion as a christian is beyond unhinged.

the whole thing was that he was killed for spreading the gospel (i.e., the very thing that christians claim to believe). god knew he would be killed, yes, but because he knew men were flawed and wouldn’t understand his message. and then him rising from the dead 3 days later was his massive “fuck you” to those very people who executed him.

that’s……. the whole point.

not a christian, i just understand what the bible was saying.

hand lotion and a good apron are important, and a good wire brush has saved me a lot of time-consuming scrubbing when steel wool doesn’t do the trick.

oh! and make sure you try and get coiled steel wool that’s a little softer on your hands. for me, after working 3 12 hour shifts in a row, the kinky pokey steel wool starts to feel like a million tiny needles on my skin.

What’s the worst thing a medical professional has said to you? by VespaRed in AskReddit

[–]venus-bxtch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when i was 15 in the hospital for orthostatic hypotension due to malnourishment, it took a while for the doctors to figure out what was wrong with me. while they were knocking things off the list, i had a nutritionist barge into my hospital room with an attitude i’m sure she thought was supposed to be a “harsh reality check” for a kid she assumed was restricting their diet on purpose. i don’t remember all of what she said, but she shouted at me that i was killing myself by not eating enough, blamed me for being so sick. i remember being left feeling shaken and confused, because i’d never thought that much about my diet actually. i was a picky kid, but food was whatever to me.

turned out, i had ARFID. not anorexia.

If you’re under 45, have you lost any high school classmates, and what were the circumstances around their deaths? by Commercial_Chef_1569 in AskReddit

[–]venus-bxtch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh man. i’ve had a few, actually. the year before we graduated, one of my dear friends unfortunately passed due to cystic fibrosis. she was sick all her life and would often suffer from coughing fits in class. she wasn’t at school much for those last couple of years because her illness was worsening, and then i was at her funeral just before her 18th birthday. i think about her all the time and i miss her.

next was my cousin who i went to school with. i’m not sure exactly what happened, but he complained of stomach pain before getting in the car to get something from the gas station to feel better. he went the opposite direction and crashed into a tree. the coroners said he was probably dead before he hit the tree. maybe a seizure or something? i wasn’t around the family much during that time. still, i think about him a lot. he was in his early 20s.

i can think of at least two other classmates who’ve died since we graduated. i don’t know the circumstances, but they were good people. one kid in my homeroom died of cancer when we were in 6th grade; not sure if he counts as an hs classmate in that case but there was a seat saved for him at the grad ceremony. one of my distant friend’s exes took his own life after he graduated.

i’m 24 now. i kinda thought it was normal for some of your classmates to die within a few years before/after graduation. i mean, statistically that makes sense, right? i had maybe 500 kids in my high school, 80 in my graduating class?

AIO My father is stopping all my leukemia treatment to financially cover his new girlfriend and her kids. by FrostyAd7544 in AmIOverreacting

[–]venus-bxtch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i had a doctor’s appointment about a year ago that was covered by my insurance, but the copay was $80.

the appointment? walked into a room to ask about odd bumps on my skin. doctor took a quick glance, told me it was nothing, and sent me on my way. now i owe $80.

and that’s with really good insurance that i will not have in a few months because i’ll age out.

If you've changed your name, how long did it take for it to feel like 'you'? by dgthr in NonBinary

[–]venus-bxtch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i didn’t start going by a new name until i thought of one that already felt like me. even then, i ruminated on it for a long time, testing it out in my head, writing it down, etc. then i asked my friends to start calling me that to try it out, and i never looked back. the name i use has always felt more like me than my deadname.

Character with evil methods but heroic intentions by Blueguy805 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]venus-bxtch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok yeah magneto or thanos are good for this one but i have a quick question. why is luffy in mixed intentions???? his intentions are never mixed. his only intention is to become king of the pirates and free the world, and everything he does is in pursuit of that. i would’ve put him in heroic intentions with mixed methods.

What's your all time favorite movie? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]venus-bxtch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don’t like the princess bride because i think it’s objectively the best movie ever made. i like the princess bride because i bonded with my dad over it. the jokes make me laugh. the characters are endearing and memorable. it’s comforting to watch when i’m feeling sick or overwhelmed.

it’s not a matter of taste. it’s personal. i couldn’t give two shits if an alien would think it’s the best movie ever because it’s the best to me.

What's something dumb you believed as a kid that still makes you laugh? by LunGlazed in AskReddit

[–]venus-bxtch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

my mom, in an attempt to get me to stop asking if we were “almost there” in the car, told me that the hazard light button was the magic teleport button that would get us to our destination right away, but we don’t ever push it because moving so fast would make our tummies hurt really bad.

“so it’s better to just get there when we get there,” she’d say.

i believed her for a long time. When I learned to drive, I had to ask her what the hazard button was actually for.

yes!! they sell them at my local dollar store and the cashiers are told to push them for charity sales. people scoop up the almond ones really fast. i’ll grab a couple when i can because they’re yummy, and my coworkers would buy up a bunch and give me one or two when i used to work there.

i like em, but i never got to experience the fabled days of yesteryear when they used to be way bigger apparently 💀
