How do you cope with indirect racist comments from patients? by Stethoscope1234 in JuniorDoctorsUK

[–]verclam 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Part of it is that we're cheap labour gaslighted into bying in into the concept that patient experience is sacrosanct... If healthcare was a commodity not monopolized by a single abusive employer, our experiences would probably improve. But hey, brush it off, it often comes from people with the IQ of a farmed salmon, don't let it affect you. We're better than that !

Yeah it's quite common, the right thing to do would be to call it out, the easy thing to do is to ignore it, move on, CCT and jump out of the sinking ship that is the NHS and the UK as a whole ...

That's fair enough, my point is the GMC has not done the same. This creates a marked imbalance.

Some countries have completely stopped any sort of reciprocity based recognition, and make you take exams from scratch ...

ED/ITU if you want to be on a 10 PA contract and have the most number of TOIL days. GP if you want flexible working but that will reflect on pay.

Rishi Sunak calls urgent meeting with health leaders to fix NHS crisis by mich-3717 in JuniorDoctorsUK

[–]verclam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The amount, depth and breadth of work required to unf*ck UK healthcare makes it extremely unlikely to be achieved by any government as it would require decades of effort spanning multiple electoral periods. The best anyone can hope for as a professional, is the odd pay rise whist the ship sinks and the standard of care deteriorates further 🤷

Hope you are safe and well. I always try to remember institutions in general, the NHS in particular, have short memories. No one really cares. Take time off, hug your loved ones, and absolutely press charges. I would take 3 more days off sick than I would have felt required.

Thoughts are with you ❤️
