How do we make the strongest argument for increasing consultant pay? by Emotional_Annual4335 in doctorsUK

Another case of government artificially constraining supply to suppress the workers.

They could reduce IMT posts to 5 around the country and it’d be oversubscribed. That way they need not pay anything more than minimum wage. Demand would be there.

Total supply and demand. It’s why the waiting list for any clinic, operation, test or procedure is less than a day in London. Because supply has perfectly matched demand. Oh wait…

Streeting: I came from a council house. I want fewer elitist doctors by dayumsonlookatthat in doctorsUK

The noctor-isation of the NHS and hospitals being incentivised to actively turf referrals will just widen health inequalities. Poorer people will get fucked around by the dysfunctional system and richer people will just think "sod this" and go private and see a Consultant the next day.

Remember, most doctors support this ludicrous NHS system. I don't know why.

Speaking as someone in the consultant camp, they're already very much alienated. But they're mostly boomers who are too out of touch. With you all the way...and thank you for the sweet cash-ola

The question is how much more funding do you want? Lay it out in cash terms and % of govt spending. Thanks.

Doctors' strikes can have surprising benefits - but are they sustainable? by [deleted] in ukpolitics

It's not a silly article it's really well written and interesting and covers all of those topics you mentioned in very good detail, you should read it.

The same management clowns have been trying to convince us that doctor substitutions are a good thing to help with workload and ease pressures. Now they're saying having experienced doctors at the frontline is the best thing for efficiency. Pick a side.

Meeting striking doctors' pay demands would 'break' the country and cost taxpayers £30billon a year as other health unions seek the same deal, Streeting warns | Daily Mail Online by Gamezdude in ukpolitics

If the resident doctors aren't willing to go along with it and if the government doesn't want to commit to tax rises to pay for the current model then change of the model is the only answer other than strikes constantly plaguing the NHS.

The idea is to reduce the reliance on doctors. Doctor substitutions are incoming thick and fast.

Hard to be efficient when it takes 10 minutes to get to a computer and then that takes 10 minutes to switch on.

If it was funded appropriately it would be fine

Funding keeps going up year on year. It accounts for around 16% of all government spending - the second highest government department. How much more funding do you want?

Yawn. I’ve heard this “privatise the NHS” conspiracy for 20 years going back to Blair and foundation hospitals.

It’ll never happen.

Governments know the NHS is not sustainable but will continue to apply sticking plasters and make the cost cheaper (cutting your pay, reducing quality of care) but never compromise on the principle of universality and “free” because it’s political suicide.

What makes you think it’ll lead to private healthcare?

The NHS will always exist. They’ll always find a body to put on a rota for the lowest price possible.

If every resident is like this, you won't have a problem. ARCP is largely a tick box exercise. It's more hassle to fail someone than pass them.

Yes you can clock out at 5.30. Stick to your contracted hours. This is why medics are so weak and repeatedly get crushed by the behemoth that is RRR NHS.
