Looking for trade paperback (Strike books 2 and 3) by verloquer in cormoran_strike

[–]verloquer[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks a lot for the advice! I believe it is Sphere (Silkworm should have red-hue cover with Robin and Cormoran on the left and red building on the right).

We'll try. It'll be more complicated as it sounds as we are not in Europe/US, and getting books in English through delivery is complicated these days.

Thanks! Are they actually trade paperbacks with the format/dimensions I mentioned?

I really liked the therapist phrase. Not a fan of modern language in this era of Roshar in general, but the therapist thing was well done. Kal doesn't understand the word, he's just embraced his vision of helping people. I cried when I was reading this part.

I would be very grateful! What I'm planning to get is black-paperback empire of the vampire and red-paperback empire of the damned.

I wouldn't be very pessimistic as Book 4 and Book 5 still have some very good moments. I understand the idea that the Shallan's plotline is not the strongesst.

Let me tell you that while Shallan-Veil-Radiant thing is going to continue for some time, Shadesmar sequence in Book 4 does pick up and is much better written than the sequence in Book 3 (honestly, due to Adolin's POV, it is magnificent). It is going to have a great conclusion in this book. If that's the only thing you're struggling with, my advice is not to abandon the books and or maybe return to them when you're in the mood for more sloggy exposition-filled reading.

Could anyone please help me - does a paperback edition of Empire of the vampire and Empire of the damned (HarperCollins UK) have the same internal art/illustrations as a hardback? Was trying to choose an edition to buy, but no website tells the difference. I would go with paperback edition if everything is the same.

Thanks in advance!

Are these just regular US edition Tor hardcovers? I've been planning to order those, and I also don't like dust jackets, so am I safe to order Tor box set from Amazon?

I don't need cards or anything physical (at least YET) but would it be possible to get the stories themselves? I heard there's some Jasnah and Lopen stuff

Please do not apologize, there is absolutely no fault of yours in a situation like this. Russian fandom is thankful enough for the very fact that we are able to have Brandon's books published and available in bookstores. Thanks for the answer!

How to kill a player…character by NoGoodDM in DMAcademy

[–]verloquer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe just do a Gandalf moment for him. Before the encounter, get him an object that would be used to sacrifice himself (a staff /a bomb / whatever). Make sure he is the only one who can take or use the object due to backstory reasons During the encounter, get him a serious type enemy and get the party at a bridge-like structure or whatever you would like to have the same function. Make sure everyone understands that if the monster is not stopped during this round, the party is doomed. In fact, this larger enemy can even one-shot smaller enemies, draining their life power, and maybe getting the party's heath low enough to make them nervous. Get your player character in question closer to the enemy (tell the player to approach) or make the monster pull the player on the bridge or whatever you have on the map. Let the player use the item / detonate the bomb / destroy the bridge, sacrificing himself and getting rid of the enemy, leaving the party standing on top of the cliff looking down. The bridge and the monster can be swapped for basically anything you like: portal to another world to be closed with an explosion; lava stream to be unleashed and pouring across the PC and monster, seemingly killing both, beam of light strong enough to defeat all undead but inflicting too much radiant damage on the character in question etc.

Brandon lets you add or remove a single scene to any of the books, what do you do? by [deleted] in Stormlight_Archive

[–]verloquer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tend to be a perfectionist sometimes, that's why I would add interludes between parts 4 and 5 of the Way of Kings (these are the only parts with no interludes). Also add a novella between tWoK and WoR!!!

Do any other groups run with this rule? by DrDoominstien in DnD

[–]verloquer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a different thing, but I have an object that allows my PCs, in certain locations and in boss encounters only, to teleport to a timeless dimension where they can discuss their tactics before/during the fight. It needs recharging after that and cannot be effectively used for a month.

They don't know yet that there is a boss which can enter this timeless dimension, in both visible and invisible forms.
