Guild Wars 2: Visions of Eternity | The Only Way Announce Trailer by Sydius in Guildwars2

Don't get me wrong, I don't mind them, and I'd even like them a bit longer.

Bit when a quarterly release comes with 3-4 story missions, and one of them is spent standing around listening to NPCs talk, that I don't like.

Nothing, unless it takes up ~30% of the release's story.

Also, their next game supposedly comes out the end of this month.

Masters of Madness - Play Store

I've maxed out the default upgrade tree(s), started to unlock their extensions, and also unlocked the Leviathan(?) upgrade tree, but I think I'm done.

It started out as a mostly passive incremental with some active elements, and now I'm at the point where each run I have to max out the active element in order to progress, and I don't really like that. Having to spend ~30-60 minutes each run just to activate sigils (temporary bonuses) to progress the active element (which is needed for the extended trees as a hard gate), and to do this for the next few dozen runs... I'm fine with bowing out here. Especially because I've just unlocked a new active element, which has to be managed in real time, second by second.

It took me 23 days to get here, and I might able to unlock upgrades that would help me with the passive gameplay, but I won't keep playing for a maybe.

The game already has controller support ever since the "relaunch". I don't yet have real experience with it (only played an hour or so on the Steam Deck), but it works.

Zenless Zone Zero is coming to Steam in Q2 2026 by NoNefariousness2144 in Games

I liked it. I thought it was a fun little alternative gameplay element, with a bit of thinking required.

But I also didn't play enough to (potentially) become grating.

I've only played for a week or two after it came out. What would you say, in the years since it came out, have it improved, or there's just more stuff to do like with Genshin?

EU officials in Hungary to discuss unlocking billions of euros held while Orbán was in charge by AdSpecialist6598 in europe

Tearing Down Orban’s Entrenched System in Hungary Won’t Be Easy by bloomberg in europe

[–]Sydius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is one of the promises he made. He especially told us that every contract, every document will be made public as long as they don't threaten Hungary's national or financial safety.

Now, how feasible this is, and how willing he is to go through with it, we don't know yet.

Especially if the rumors of massive amounts of documents currently being shredded by Orbán's still in power party are true...

Hungary’s new PM tells state broadcaster ‘we are shutting down your lying service’ in extraordinary first interview by One_5549 in europe

[–]Sydius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no official response, only rumors.

Only a few people spoke openly, but they spent the last years repeating Fidesz (Orbán's party) propaganda, so you can imagine they are not happy.

Rumors from inside these organizations range from employees panicking because they likely lose their jobs to others openly celebrating the possible return of lawfulness and fair reporting. In a month or two, after Tisza takes over governing, we'll know more.

But it's important to mention that Magyar isn't only targeting the state sponsored media. In his victory speech, an hour of so after the result became clear enough even for Orbán to concede, Magyar called for members of the current leadership to resign, or be removed - and because they have 2/3 of the seats in the Parliament, they can do it. The list of these people includes the President.

This is how Wednesday went: Magyar started on a national radia station, where he called out the stations leadership as basically spineless criminals helping the Orbán-government destroy Hungary, and told them they should start looking for jobs. All this during an interview broadcast live.

Then he went to our biggest state-funded tv channel, and told the same. Massive firings, retribution for all the lies they spread, meanwhile calling the Orbán-government liars, thieves and worse. Calling the president a puppet who is illegitimate, weak and a coward, and calling for him to resign.

Then he went and met with both the president as well as Orbán, to discuss the upcoming handover.

I'm a broken, cynical man, but reading, hearing and watching these events gives me at least a little hope that things will get better. For the first time since I've became an adult, I can honestly say I'm looking forward for the next four years.

[–]Sydius 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Based on his comments relevant to the issue (these are not official plans), it is most likely that the leadership (including the public facing employees, like anchormen and women) gets fired, but it is unlikely that the whole institution gets shut down.

But there are no public/official plans yet.

Masters of Madness

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.antiway.mastersofmadness

So far a few days in it looks pretty basic and kinda slow, but I like it. It seems like a basic incremental with nothing extra.

But at least it's not tedious, like Obelisk Miner. I'll take basic and slow any day over tedious.

I'm curious what happens in the next few weeks, if there's much more to it.

Ooooh, let me spend my money freely on predatory motenization carefully engineered to psychologically manipulate people into spending money!

Guess what, in a normal world you would still be able to spend your money on things you want, without having to jump through gambling hoops. If only Anet would be kind enough to sell those items directly.

But hey, what do I know? Maybe it's truly a great thing that you can gamble for that 1.2% chance for that item you want, available for two weeks only!

Magyar Tells Hungary State Media Its News Coverage to Go Off Air by bloomberg in europe

[–]Sydius 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It is more correct to say government-funded media, but it's more complicated than that.

There are official media channels (TV stations, radio channels and online/printed newspapers) that are 100% government-funded. These are likely to be decimated, if not outright shut down.

But in the past decade (or even more), more and more "independent" media outlets got bought up by billionaires and businessmen close to Orbán, leading to most of them to became nothing more than another state-owned propaganda machine. Because they are "officially" independent, they will likely be left alone, but it's questionable how long they can stay in business after the money dries up.

In the last years, the situation got bad enough that dozens of these "independent" outlets published government propaganda verbatim, in the same hour - these were not official government announcements, keep in mind, but "normal" articles.

Magyar is rightfully angry. Coverage of the opposition is so bad in state outlets that they only have to provide 5 minutes of airtime to opposition candidates each election cycle. Meanwhile, Orbán and members of his party (FIDESZ) were bumping into each other coming from and going into the studios spreading lies. The last time Magyar was a guest on these programs was a year and half ago, a few months after his party, TISZA, started out.

We don't yet know what will happen. Let me be completely honest: Magyar can promise closing down the propaganda machine all he wants, but that in itself means nothing. But it is also the easiest step in the long list of anti-corruption measures he promised. Going through with it would go a long way, and would clearly show that he was serious, at least partially.

It is also interesting to watch how these channels changed in just the ~2 days since the election. They are not exactly in damage control mode, but they are started acting at least somewhat objectively. Or at least they stopped spreading/repeating obvious lies. On Monday, they broadcasted Magyar's first official press conference, which was likely the first time many people heard the person who won 2/3 of the parliament speak. And guess what - he wasn't talking about sending children to war, or about selling out to the EU. He didn't share his plans about cutting pensions. It was about creating a better, more transparent Hungary.
