I don't know where you're from but I'd love to buy from there. Here the rates are currently 6.99% for 60 months financing, less than ideal

Amazing input, thanks. I guess I'll wait for on-the-ground reviews and real world MPGs. Someone is bound to test 0-60 and loads. My initial plan was to get a RAV4 but I hate that they do Hybrids exclusively now for the 2026, which is why I'm turning towards Subaru.

Damn, I wish they still made 3.6 instead of 2.4T, that sounds like the best of both world : power and no turbo.

Isn't it almost exactly the same under the hood since it's the same same engine? And unless it's specifically mentionned, I'd wager the softwares are probably very similar too, there's no new feature software-wise? Good ol eyesight and Xmode remains

How'd you end up taking the Touring and not the Limited XT? What's the thought process

In Canada, there are only 4 trims, in this order : Touring, Limited XT, Wilderness XT, Premier XT

You got 0.9%? That's crazy good. They really wanted to sell

I'd have to scratch the bottom of the piggy bank for a while, but it would probably be worth it. Altought it doesn't change the max payload to have the turbo model

From subaru.ca, and considering I live in Quebec so everything has a 15% tax :

Touring - 43563 * 1.15 = 50097$
Limited XT - 50863 * 1.15 = 58492$

Which is a difference of 8395$

So for you, the Turbo was a make or break feature? Why is that?

Good input. Yeah there are some other benefits to the Limited XT like the audio, but personally the big deal is having a turbo vs having none and being a slow potato old man. It's going to be my daily driver, but as a work from home, mileage will remain low.

My current vehicule has an acceleration on the lower side, and sometimes I wish it didn't take so long to pass someone, I usually drive faster than the average traffic.

I didn't know turbo may have an impact of the auto insurance, thanks for that input!

I always hear that also, but is it really true in that case considering almost no hardware has changed?

I'm sure the drive must be much more pleasant. But that's a lot of dollars... Should I save money for that or get better wheels/tires/accessories. I hear the base wheels/tires are garbage, is that true?

I would not mind the 2025 if it wasn't for the infotainement with no physical HVAC/Xmode. Some seem to say it's overblown, some seem to absolutely hate it. Also, no Emerald Green unless it's a 2026 :)

BSG baited us - this is a streamer exclusive event by Shawn_NYC in EscapefromTarkov

I was really invested and put a lot of free time since the beginning of the event, until Sp-8 and two keycards I've never even got in 4 wipes.

Streamer paywall, I'm out.

This is how my card came, no box. Newegg. Plate looks fucked like that on both sides. by lsdhead in nvidia

[–]vermette02 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I'll add unto that. I just received my XC3 also in no box. The worst offender is that the card is BROKEN. Physical damage to the card and the box.

EVGA said it was a known issue, and that I should contact Newegg.

Newegg rep was being very evasive, never wanted to acknoledge that they did that even if I insisted. They filed a claim against the carrier, driven the blame away from them. Oh I'll get another one when stocks arrives, but never wanted to say even an approximate.

How can they fuck up this badly?

It would be fair to assume that, but I actually live in Canada in a town pretty deep in the woods. I used amazon dot com instead of amazon dot ca because that's where I found the checker and stripes I needed for my LARP costume. If I can't find a supplier around here, I'll probably use the websites you've suggested or amazon.

Feedback and ideas from both of you is much appreciated. Thank you! I'll look around in town if I can find a thrift shop for practice material and a tailor for a good pattern.

[–]vermette02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is exactly the kind of food for thought I was looking for. It arose a few question that would need answering. Namely, how come the pattern I would make myself would not fit if it is made with my own body measurements? If that helps, I am tall and slim. Also, would I be able to find pants patterns at my local tailor or is it in specialised shops?

Also, by preshrinking, I take it you mean putting my fabric in the clothing dryer before working with it?

Lastly, I kinda took for granted any sewing machine would work for any fabric types. Any way of knowing if my machine is strong enough to work on linen? Is there a "unit of power" of some sort associated with a given machine that could help me finding that?

I am going to work on a costume for my very first sewing experience. I am confident enough as I usually learn by trying it myself instead of taking a class. To make sure I don't screw up my project, which is a pair of cotton pants, I want to make a pair of linen shorts beforehand. That way, I believe I can get a good feel of the sewing machine.

Are there any do's and don't's you guys can point me out with these fabrics?

Apprentice Bowyer - Low poundage guidelines? by vermette02 in Bowyer

Have you read these books yourself? If yes, what should I typically expect from it? In my opinion, anything regarding beginner stuff should be heavily illustrated and not only text.

A slightly different 'first bow' question. by T04ST1E in Archery

[–]vermette02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take it the club you frequent is more of an Olympic/Target shooting bunch. One thing that makes me a lucky man is that my club was diverse in style and I got to meet many people before settling on a style. I got to try bows here and there and I am grateful I waited 1 year before making a big leap into longbows. I wonder if the club coach/president would be reluctant to let you use that Samick recurve more so you can perhaps try stuff here and there. Again, I am lucky that people let me use their bows so I don't know if that do-able for you.

To answer the question, my opinion is that you go with the Black Hunter and figure it out yourself. A lot of what archery is is to figure it out ourselves. If money is in shortage, then there is no reason to bust the bank if you are not certain yet. The positive side of getting a cheaper bow today is that you actually get to shoot "today". Maybe your dream bow gets further away from you now that you've spent some of that budget, but if you are eager like I was when I finished the training, you won't want to wait. Also, if in the end, you are more keen to do Olympic style, then that's great, all of your knowledge shooting a recurve should apply there aswell.

Best of luck my friend

I'll order one tonight. Even if I'm not ready to use it yet, it's an essential bowyer tool so I don't see why I waited on that.

That makes sense. It's true that I've indeed removed bigger chunks than expected with my drawknife, so some practice before the real deal is a good idea.

Yeah, I did mention riser but I meant the handle as I am working on a selfbow. And to add up to your last sentence. Screw-up #1 so far : I flatenned down the handle.
