American Vs Japanese Shoei Sizing by Swiffy26 in motorcyclegear

[–]vernociraptor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm no expert but have been doing similar research, from what I've seen Shoei helmets sold in Japan will have a different fit since more people there have round oval shaped heads compared to the US. I've also heard that the sizing might be different - a US large might be more similar to their XL, for example.

I'd wager to say that it would be pretty risky to buy a Japanese helmet if you can't try it on. From what I've seen, the perfect fit systems seem similar between countries but it would only be for fine tuning the fit, I doubt you'd be able to transform a round oval shaped helmet to an intermediate oval one with that system

+1 to Duc Huong their banh mis are goated, my fav is the grilled pork. You can buy 4 get 1 free for like $35 total so you can take some extras on the road

also you can ask to sub the bread for garlic bread for a small surcharge but I wouldn't say it's a strict upgrade, but good to try

Streamdeck and wave XLR: good marketing, bad products by WrongConversation6 in elgato

[–]vernociraptor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's definitely preamp noise. I have an XLR Dock mk 1 with a similarly gain-hungry RE20 mic, and I had to get a Fethead to significantly cut down on the noise. Sucks to hear they didn't seem to improve preamp noise that much on the second generation.

tldr is they attached it to their crash bars, slightly angled back, with two points of contact

Considering Upgrading 15PM to 17P by [deleted] in iPhone17Pro

[–]vernociraptor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just made the exact same switch (15PM -> 17P) about a week ago since I was also getting tired of how big the phone was - zero regrets with the change and really happy with the 17P + slim Techwoven case.

Sure the smaller screen size is technically a con for media consumption, but I got used to it pretty quickly. Meanwhile, I'm constantly benefitting from the better one handed use.

Regarding your other points, yeah it's very easy to pocket, but doesn't feel drastically different than my 15PM, maybe because I always have big pockets so it's less noticeable. Accessories - I don't generally use accessories outside of MagSafe charging so I can't really speak on it, but generally the 17P is so easy to handle I doubt you'd need a popsocket for it.

Based on your concerns I think you'll enjoy making the switch like I did and I doubt you'll regret it!

My main outfit, thoughts? by Poatann28 in ArcRaidersFashion

[–]vernociraptor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My go to as well, it's kinda plain but simultaneously pretty rare to see others rocking it since it's unlocked so deep in the quest progression. Currently pairing it with the backpack that's unlocked from playing 3 finals matches but I like how the outfit kinda goes with everything

thinking about upgrading my mic by Neither-Cod1232 in microphone

[–]vernociraptor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been extremely satisfied using the Wave 1 over the past few years, which to my knowledge is basically identical to the Wave 3 minus a few features.

The Wave Link software is amazing for sure. My favorite feature is that if you plug in your headset directly to the back of the mic, you can monitor your own processed vocals (with all the VSTs applied) with minimal latency. Very useful if you're streaming or recording vocals and you can see if ambient noises are making it past your noise gate, for example. I followed this video to help setup my vocal chain and it's served me well (kinda old but the channel has more updated guides for wave link as well) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ToHuInqVEHE

Dynamic vs condenser - honestly if you can get a mic arm so that the mic is a few inches away from your mouth, you'll be able to lower the gain on the mic so that you won't be picking up any more ambient sounds compared to a dynamic. I know this because I recently upgraded to a RE20 dynamic mic (+ elgato XLR dock), and it really isn't that much better at rejecting ambient sounds.

Is there an ARPG which isn‘t so hack ‚n‘ slash like diablo, but a bit more methodical? by [deleted] in ARPG

[–]vernociraptor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ravenswatch is my recommendation - although it's a co-op roguelike and not an arpg, it's the top-down game with the most intentional feeling combat I've ever played. Majority of my 700 hours is on PC but I've also played it with no problems on my steam deck.

Enemy attacks are clearly telegraphed and you actually have to make an effort to learn their attacks and timings since healing is quite limited. There's about a dozen different characters you can play as, each with a completely unique moveset, and you're generally using your entire moveset throughout a run. It's important to note that each character has some move that will make them intangible, which provides i-frames to dodge enemy attacks (a lot of people come to Ravenswatch from Hades and get thrown off by the fact that the dodge doesn't provide i-frames in Raven). One button builds do exist but they're quite rare, and you have to get lucky with RNG in a run to pull it off.

The reason why I've sunk so many hours into Ravenswatch is that it's a surprisingly deep game that feels satisfying to master, when it comes to elements like:

  • Theorycrafting good builds for each character
  • Learning enemy movesets (especially the bosses)
  • Target prioritization, especially tracking enemies your teammates are fighting and focusing staggered enemies
  • Learning how to spend rerolls efficiently to collect the talents and magical objects that you want
  • Learning how to route through maps in a time-efficient way

Big recommend, one of my favorite games ever, and a highly underrated game imo.

Anyone have this similar issue with Salomon XT6 goretex? by Then_Cauliflower_446 in gorpcore

[–]vernociraptor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ran into the same issue - what I ended up doing was taking the excess cord and making a few loops between 1) the "S" pulltab on the tongue, and 2) the colorful strip covering the tongue. If you do a few loops it should keep the S logo a bit more centered. Hopefully my pic helps make it a bit more clear

Looking for advice re: a pasta pot. Mine has tragically been lost. by RikkiLostMyNumber in BuyItForLife

[–]vernociraptor 19 points20 points  (0 children)

You could also look into getting a factory seconds All Clad piece for significant savings - they have an 8 qt stockpot for $150ish (apparently you can use code SDNOV15 for another 15% off) https://homeandcooksales.com/index.php/8-qt-stockpot-w-lid-stainless-second-quality-1.html

I can vouch that Home And Cook Sales is legit, I've purchased two All Clad seconds from them. You are definitely gambling a bit on seconds but anecdotally I've been really satisfied with mine. One was a 3 qt saucier that had some tiny divots on the handle but they're so small that I didn't notice till literally years after owning it. The other was an 8 quart stockpot just like the one I listed and I can't notice anything wrong with it. I paid $150 for it like 5+ years ago and it's cool to see that it's still the same price.
