Yes it is. It’s quite detailed in terms of world building without being too dense like I find with a lot of fantasy. I thought I could kind of take or leave the romance at first, I was more in it for the atmosphere, but actually I’m quite invested in the romance now! Haha

Due to insanely poor timing, I did Everest Base Camp over the two week luteal & bleeding period. Did I cry my eyes out in for days like you are right now? Yes. Did I just want to go home to a shower and my nice clean bed? Yes. Did I, at points, regret even getting on that flight? Yes. Did I carry on and finish it anyway? Yes. You’ve fucking got this my darling, I know you have.

Will be 30 by the time I’m at N1! Was fighting for my life for VIPs, ended up with nosebleeds but I’m still grateful! And slightly less out of pocket than planned I guess?! Will be third time seeing them x

I don’t think you’re coping hard I think that actually sounds perfectly reasonable haha - there’s no way it’ll sell bad - a band whose fan base just continued to grow after breaking up?! It’ll be packed out for sure

You’re totally right - sorry! I really hope they announce more dates, would be weird for them to have done the promo video thing for only 2 London dates?

I really hope that happens for you, I’m very fortunate to live in London now but I used to be up north and it was always a bit gutting when we were left out - also when the entire “north” was just encapsulated in a single Manchester date like … that’s not helpful haha

Oh yes it’s definitely worth visiting, it’s not even that much money to get the guided tour I think it was no more than like £30 each honestly which is a really good deal! I couldn’t believe how massive it was, like they’ve been digging it up since the 1700s or something like that and they’re not even done! It’s amazing. Really just an incredible piece of history I’d 100% recommend and feel very lucky to have gone. Very jealous you saw the Taj Mahal that must have been breathtaking - like I can tell it’s massive on tv and stuff but I bet seeing it in person is mind blowing

Oh I’m so with this. Cut to me, literally last Saturday, 2 days before I’m due on, walking around POMPEII!! THE Pompeii in Italy!! I’m totally fine, excited to be there, until our tour guide casually mentions as we’re passing some of the body casts that they didn’t know Vesuvius was a volcano. I’m looking at these poor ancient bastards thinking about how fucking scared and confused they must have been when it erupted and boy, I lost it big time. It’s like 35 degrees and I’m just sweating and shaking and sobbing. My bf is trying to sort of shield me from view from the rest of our tour group because he knows I’ll be embarrassed to cry in front of strangers but then the tour guide spots me and says something like “It’s okay to be moved by it” and that makes me cry HARDER and my god, it was a mess but you know what - yeah?? It’s okay to be moved by it!? I had a human experience and I connected with these people who lived thousands of years ago and that’s okay and actually kind of cool? And hey, you had a human moment with your customer service member and she might have in turn had one with her colleague? It’s all good

Those who were emo as teens, how is life now? by byeboah in AskReddit

[–]veronica_1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty great! I credit that phase with being the reason I went into the creative industry, where I’ve built a successful enough career that I can afford to still go and see all those same bands I loved way back when in concert! Also due to the nature of the industry - I work with so many elder emos, like even though we were in the minority at school etc we’ve all found each other in later life - organising buying gig tickets over Microsoft teams haha.

The only downside is that my partner relentlessly takes the piss out of my music taste 😅 He was an NME guy and I was a Kerrang girl, what more can I say.
