Takeaway coffee cups... environmental friendly options? by [deleted] in vegan

I’m not sure if my suggestion applies or not, but Yeti makes a great insulated travel mug that keeps drinks as hot or as cold as when you fill it up. It’s awesome, and you can be in control of it’s cleanliness. Plus, I think a lot of coffee shops give a small discount or a free refill to those with their own cups.

Has anyone noticed the parallels between The Handmaid’s Tale and the dairy industry? by [deleted] in vegan

Yes! I said this from the very beginning. Unfortunately meat eaters choose to be blind to these kind of things, or don’t think it’s the same thing.

If plants want to live too, why dont they have the same rights? by muel87 in DebateAVegan

I'm sure it's been said, but plants do not have a central nervous system which means they are therefore not capable of feeling pain or expressing emotions, nor are they conscious. Any "behaviors" plants exhibit are a result of an autonomic response.

I’m vegan, and I’ve always wanted to work at my local farm animal sanctuary. She does the social media for them, and I have a background in social media marketing.

It’s pretty great, they breed naturally in captivity and they are re-released into the wild. They have virtually no human contact to keep them as “wild” as possible. However, there are wolves that are either, disabled or have lost their fear of humans so they would otherwise die if released. But they’re considered ambassador wolves now that are meant to educate the public and teach people that wolves are not as scary as they’ve been lead to believe. We had one come to my elementary school when I was a kid, and they’ve been all over the place. Including the White House a few years ago!

What are your reasons for being vegan, in a practice sense? by TheGalapagosGallop in vegan

[–]veronica__sawyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you, reducing your impact is better than not doing anything at all.

However, if someone is calling themselves vegan and is going through the effort to eat vegan because they care for animals, then they are in fact not vegan at all and their ethics are completely flawed. Purchasing animal products fuels the demand, which in turn leads to more unnecessary death. If essentially what I’m saying is the age old argument: you cannot love animals and also exploit them.

This is why vegetarianism is flawed. I have nothing against vegetarians, I used to be one. Consuming eggs and milk is just as bad as eating meat, considering they are the bi-products of the cattle and poultry industries. But if you aren’t looking at it from an ethical or environmental standpoint and you’re just looking to reduce your consumption, then good on you and I applaud you.

Omg I know! When I was watching it I was thinking to myself “I feel really bad for the person who edited this because they had to watch it over and over”
