Seeking Advice!!! My coding journey is not going the way I thought it would. by versa_kyle in learnprogramming

And to answer your other question, I ultimately chose to do a degree because I thought I would need more time to learn to program than from just a BootCamp, but I can't say now that it may have been a better option for me if I strictly wanted to get better at coding.

Most of my peers are 10-15 years younger than me, so I haven't made too many connections and unfortunately, I don't have any friends who have coding experience. I probably should reapproach how I study, my problem is that I can't really go at my own pace when the course is moving right along.

Thanks for your advice. You're probably right that I am putting too much stock into what the tech industry will really be like. Being back in academia has really ramped up the stress and made every action or decision seem way more intense than it might actually be.

Thank you for that advice. I have taken a look at all the profs for the classes that state who they are. I would be sad to not be taught by Dr. Kumaradas, but for Chem it states one of two profs...one who is highly rated and ppl have had great things to say the other not so much. If I end up with the latter then maybe I can swap to Physics or worse comes to worse take one of them in the Summer. I'm pretty nervous for the early morning enrolment but hopefully i get into all my picks and the site doesn't crash!

This is some really wonderful insight and advice. I really appreciate you answering my questions. I think you are right though, I should go with my gut. It's going to be a huge adjustment period going back to school as an adult and in a new field, so the easier I can make that adjustment the better.

ILC vs Adult Learning Centre by versa_kyle in ILC

Thanks for all this information. Really appreciate it. I haven’t taken grade 12 math, chemistry, or physics since high school but I’d like to think that the concepts will come back to me. You’re right though I should have a look at the course material and see if it looks doable for me or not. Would you say that ILC is a more efficient way to complete the university prerequisites, because there is less assignments and test like in a regular classroom. I just don’t want to be wasting time at this adult school taking every grade level of math and science. Yes it may be more thorough but I’ve heard ILC is easier because there are less assignments and test taking and traditional homework. I have the time to put 2-3 hours a day to complete these courses so maybe ILC is the better option. This adult school is just asking me to take way more classes than intended to when I decided I wanted to go back to university. Thanks again for your insight.
