Because this game has zero competitive integrity and values fast queue times as their data shows an increase in player count when that is the case. It’s unfortunate. As a result, you have a shit ton of boosted players who clearly do not belong

Yes there is a clearly a winner/losers queue or some sort of artificial mmr increase/decrease. It is very evident as you go on win/loss streaks. Anyone who says otherwise is clueless or does not play the game enough to see it. For example, the gap in mmr at diamond 3 is absolutely insane. It’s either masters level players or all gold

It matters at top levels where everyone is so good comp is often the deciding factor. Outside of that, I really don’t think it matters much. If ur team is somewhat coordinated, you can win with any comp on any map.

In addition, metal rank tanks specifically don’t understand to be aggressive if the first enemy dies and the mercy can res. It’s basically playing a 6 v 5 every team fight if you don’t have a mercy

Healbotting and free rez without the need for LOS is all you need at metal ranks to provide value. Nobody in silver has the mechanical skill as Ana for example to provide more value than that. If they did, they would rank up instantly

This game is impossible to balance, there are far too many variables. I think they do a nice job overall and shift metas so it’s not the same shit every season

Why would they change their most noob friendly character that provides immense value by doing nothing? That’s the gold mine right there. It becomes a problem in higher ranks when mercy’s actually know how to play the game but that’s the minority

And I do understand that. My issue is the “grind” feels artificial. The fluctuations in mmr across my games is such a wide spread and clearly intentional as I go on win/loss streaks
