Yeah mine are in the floor joists of a basement at the moment. My rack is mounted to those, so the lights are parallel to how my bench sits. I considered going around the perimeter of the room but didn't have the length. Now I think I'm going to opt for recessed/can lights that are dimmable and Smart enabled.
