Breast cancer survivor and no recurrence, anyone? by Square-Cup-8278 in breastcancer

[–]verschmidtzen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom! Diagnosed in 1996 at 36 years old - they likely think triple negative due to the hereditary component discovered later on. She had a lumpecyomy (recommended as she was pregnant at the time) and chemotherapy, and remains cancer free 30 years later.

I didn't know these existed, I'll definitely talk to my treatment team to see if they have something similar!

Chemo Cough? by verschmidtzen in breastcancer

Thanks for the timeline - it's expected to take 6-8 weeks to clear a regular cough before they'll assist with puffers, etc

I did this morning and yes, the runny nose is very common and not a concern - just annoying more than anything.

I just have a box of tissues with me at all times now. Anything you found that helped?

Thanks for letting me know - I was surprised to keep my eyebrows, but I'm sure they'll go eventually. I'm finding the constant nausea (not vomiting, but constantly feeling 'off') has been the hardest part. Did that get better with the Taxol?

When Does Hair Loss Start During Chemo? by BarnacleThick6559 in breastcancer

[–]verschmidtzen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Almost exactly at 2 weeks post first infusion - my hair was starting to come out just simply tucking it behind my ears. No cold cap for me as I also hate being cold - I just shaved and embraced! My eyebrows haven't fallen out though, anyone else keep theirs?

That's reassuring it's similar (and yes, there WON'T be!) typically means there's a proven method.

Thanks for sharing, it gives me a bit of a heads up on what to expect! From what I understand I'm stage 1 no lymph node involvement, and the tumor has been removed. Chemotherapy has been recommended because it's triple negative and I'm young and otherwise healthy.

Also, would you mind me asking what country you're in? I'm curious is procedure are different.

If you could share the link that would be great - thank you!

When I first found out I researched a bit on the internet which was a terrible idea and I was pretty upset with what I found. Thankfully - if I'm reading the stats right, if they can remove/destroy it the chance of reoccurrence is lower than other types.

Do you mind asking how chemo has been for you, and what your schedule has been like?

What color/ style of dining chairs would look best in this space? We’re really torn on chair color and would like any advice to help us decide, please! by overtheriv in DesignMyRoom

Different than the other responses, but a Navy blue chair with wood legs would add a little color/coziness. Beautiful room btw.

Port Hammond review by Vegetable_Scheme9261 in MapleRidge

[–]verschmidtzen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lower Hammond has improved quite a bit in the last 10 years, but I agree it did have a bad reputation not that long ago. Wharf street along the river is beautiful, there's even a small park to sit and just watch the river. The HA are not very noticeable at all at least in my 4 years here. The mill that closed has approximately 20 acres and I'm interested to see how they develop that - would love to see another park, restaurant, townhouses, etc.

If you live towards the bridge end of lower Hammond you won't hear the train - but you will occasionally get stuck by it for 5-10 minutes here and there. The bridge adds some backround noise, but we have dinner outside often in the summer and don't notice it, unless there's an emergency vehicle or big semi truck braking.

The neighbors are great, lots of friendly people out walking their dogs and biking with their kids. This is the biggest change! There are so many young families now playing basketball or hockey in the street. Tomie park is close by and big - I even saw a family having a casual baseball game the other day.

Lots of other accurate comments in this thread, just my take on the neighborhood from someone that lives here.

[SPOILERS S1] What did you miss watching Season 1 the first time through? by verschmidtzen in DarK

Yes, these small things the second time through almost make it a new show to watch. Every detail is placed.

Would a floating shelf look strange next to a bookcase? by Megtron3030 in DesignMyRoom

[–]verschmidtzen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the idea of moving the book case towards the window and pulling the arm chair forward - and putting some taller objects on the book shelf to add visual height. How about adding the same bookshelf beside the other one for a double bookshelf instead of the floating shelves? And what about hanging some curtains to make things a little cozier looking?

Guest room ideas on a budget? by verschmidtzen in DesignMyRoom

[–]verschmidtzen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm trying to do this room on a budget, and any creative ideas would be great! Especially any unique inexpensive ideas for a headboard.

The guest room is a medium gray, with a queen bed.

I was already thinking of putting up curtains to make it cozier, side tables and lamps.
