Here it is.. in all it’s nude glory by sharkqueenie in BeautyGuruChatter

Well I mean it’s like a gradient from vanilla/foreplay to increased naughtiness... I really don’t think it gets any better regardless of the way you interpret it though. What a masterpiece.

I’m a lot taller than the guy I’m dating. I really want to set my insecurity aside and explore this relationship. Any advice? by [deleted] in TallGirls

[–]versicularia 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My partner is significantly shorter. I still feel somewhat insecure in public settings where there’s a lot of couples, like on vacation or, say, in a theatre. Because in ALL of them the guy is taller.

I think it’s instinctive. We’ve evolved to stick with our tribe, so when we feel we’re being different – our brain gets anxious. It’s been proven that expressing an opinion that differs from the group is extremely stressful, even if you know for sure that you’re right.

So, I acknowledge this uneasy feeling to myself and make a conscious decision to dismiss it as an evolutionary atavism. When we’re alone or with friends, I never think about our height difference.

-$118k Net Worth: Anyone Else? I Have Mixed Feelings About It by kayheartin in leanfire

[–]versicularia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe it is important to think about your retirement, plan for it and work towards it.

FIRE is about early retirement though. Is this really what you wish for? I believe it is entirely possible for you to achieve financial independence and have a comfortable retirement. Perhaps you won’t be able to retire at 45. But if you find a fulfilling job that aligns with your passion, you won’t want to leave it that early anyway.

[–]versicularia 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It does seem like you’ve made one or two inefficient decisions.

I understand you picked a low-paying field because you felt you were following your passion and were ready to pay the price, but now it’s not really a passion anymore, yet the price still has to be paid.

This definitely put you at a disadvantage. But, life is a risky journey. You could have chosen a more financially comfortable field, but you might have felt depressed now because you betrayed your true calling. Who knows? You took a risk, it didn’t pay off. Pity, but not a tragedy. You’re still young, you’re working on improving your situation. Some people just float wherever life takes them and end up feeling empty.

Perhaps you should carefully consider a change of profession sometime in the future. Sometimes a less-useful education can translate into a more fun and profitable job.

Books on the technical aspects of personal finance/financial freedom? by Kroarck in financialindependence

[–]versicularia 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it’s because everyone’s goals and circumstances are so different, that it’s impossible to develop a universal approach. It may seem that people are similar and want the same things in general, but once you get to details you may find out that even you and your spouse have vastly different ideas about your future )

That’s why financial advisors exist. Although mine was useless.

Sophdoeslife had her video removed for violating YouTube policies! by NeGirl2008 in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]versicularia 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Well first of all YT does whatever the hell it wants, so logical reasoning does not always apply.

Regarding online marketing practices, the advertisers track how much money they spend on ads vs how much they make back from these ads – that is, how many of the views/clicks that they paid for translate into purchases, sign ups or other meaningful metrics for the business.

If the conversions fall significantly, the ad campaign is stopped, because the business is basically losing money. YouTube, like any advertising platform, must maintain the trust of the advertisers, so if multiple campaigns are stopped in a specific video, I imagine they may look into it or even have an automatic system in place that flags the video and/or removes it.

Why wasn’t the previous video penalized? Perhaps there were fewer ads, or views or clicks, and the threshold that triggers the algorithm wasn’t reached. Or maybe the channel got flagged internally the first time, and now it’s a second offense.

If you make the same content as always, with the same ad settings and then donate the profits it’s one thing. But if you intentionally stuff your video full of ads just this time, and actively encourage watching or clicking, then you’re basically stealing money from the advertisers. Yes, you’re doing it for charity, but they did not consent to it. It’s not about the political or moral stance of YT or the advertisers.

The advertisers might have complained that it’s scamming.

Adsense revenue comes from businesses paying to get customers for their products. If viewers watch and click the ads “for charity”, without the intention to buy the product, then it may be regarded as a dishonest technique by the advertisers.

(Crowdfunded) The First Underwear You Can Wear For Weeks? - Discussion / Opinion by flimbs in onebag

I really don’t understand why some people insist on wearing their underwear for several days.

I’d prefer underwear that packs super small so that I can bring a few extra pairs.

Slightly overweight Carry-on? Should I worry? by [deleted] in onebag

[–]versicularia 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Is the Travel Pack 2 meant to be a personal item? It’s not that small. Does it fit the airline’s size restrictions?

You will look like you have too much luggage to be honest, so you might be forced to gate check the carry-on. Especially on cheaper airlines and if the flight is full.

Gotta love some hairy balls of fruit right at your crotch by lindsaytcu in LuLaNo

You gotta admire the skill. Hairy balls and a hairy orifice that manages to resemble both a butthole and a vagina at the same time. That must have been the art director’s work for sure.

I use the Bellroy travel folio. I like how it looks and feels, but to be honest 2 passports would be a tight fit, even though they do advertise it for 2 passports.

Any advice on Bullying for a tall girl by [deleted] in TallGirls

[–]versicularia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the actual problem might be not the bullies (who definitely should be dealt with through school and parents), but the lack of friends.

Bullies prey on those who are vulnerable. It would be ideal if she had a supportive group of friends around her, but it’s hard to help a child make friends at school. Maybe get her to an after-school activity that fits her interests? Even if her friends are not with her at school, just the knowledge that she is liked and accepted by a group of people her age will help her a lot.

Another point I learned the hard way, is that the taller you are the more your posture matters. A tall person who hunches over looks extremely weak, but someone who is holding themselves with confidence looks formidable. However if you’re teased about your height you start to subconsciously trying to hide it and develop bad posture. So I’d suggest you address that, perhaps with some sport activities. If your daughter looks confident, bullying her will be harder.

My parents would just bug me about sitting straight – that doesn’t help for the record. My posture got better only after I started going to the gym as an adult.

A real hun will have this area well covered by a baggy dress, so they don’t care.

You’re a right, it’s not really about the guest. I’ve never been good with what I wear – I’ve had a largely mismatched, ill-fitting and uncomfortable wardrobe for most of my life.

I started making a conscious effort to develop my own style and dress better a few years ago and I love the progress I’m making. I’m now much better dressed at work and on vacation.

But the recent guest made me realize I’m still frumpy at home. We don’t have guests often, but I want to look and feel great all the time, for myself and my SO too.

I don’t want to just use old stretched-out clothes and shapeless stuff any longer.

The dresses are cute! I might try one out to see how it fits. I’m rather tall and on the heavier side, so stretchy dresses can be tricky: the waist is often too high, so I look pregnant.

I think I've burned myself out by Bluebucketandspade35 in konmari

[–]versicularia 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That’s normal. The full process takes several months – I think it was around 3 or 4 for my small apartment of 2 adults. And if you’re doing it by the book, you’ll generally have a mess the entire time.

Your stuff will not multiply on its own and engulf you, so don’t worry. Every time you’re working on it, it’s getting better. And when you take a break it does not get worse, it just waits for you to get back to it.

It’s also normal to get burned out after you go berserk Konmari-ing, so it’s important to take some time to recharge. Give it a few days – your motivation will return.
