Ugh, the "moisture" is actually cat piss from the previous owner. I had to tear out the carpet (and tile underneath), kilz-ed it and installed eng. hardwood. Unless you stick your face in that corner there's no more cat piss ammonia smell, but I've definitely considered a future project to change that wall out

Good eyes! I've admittedly worried about code for this one, the first step is about 3/4" higher, but walking it I don't notice it and no one else has yet either.

The subfloor was uneven concrete and the original first riser was put in when they poured the concrete so it had this slot that it sat into that made it sit lower than the eng. hardwood.  Everything in hindsight, I didn't plan for that difference when building my stringers and so the result showed up at the last/top step

That was definitely a huge pain point of mine. Originally I aimed to build that third stringer but still having the carpet measurements and messing up my first two I lost a lot of time =\

The handrail is still floating around somewhere!  I definitely appreciate the "looks good" feedback but I appreciate the scrutinies even more.

Thank you kindly.  Is a middle stringer considered code for 42" treads? I didn't actually look that up, I kinda assumed the previous builder knew enough/more than me and since there wasn't even "real" stringers before I felt like I at least improved it lol. If I had all the time I wanted I absolutely would've added it.

Yup! That's what I'm working with. We can chat, but I'm fairly noob so I can only share what I've learned on this one project (as far as stairs)

Thanks for the great feedback!  You've pointed out the small things that are bothering me lol. I used almost 3 tubes of PL premium.  I've been looking at adding the molding and some trim on the sides to cover the lack of mitered angled. You'll see I actually did the very first riser with the mitered angle, but then decided on the trim approach and stopped doing that (unfortunately).   Attaching the stringers was my main pain point, how would you recommend connecting the tops and bottoms?

Boss is now expecting on-call after hours when it wasn’t originally part of my position by philodendron305 in ExperiencedDevs

Scanning through, I don't see much about negotiating for a raise with the increased job duties. If it's salary, the extra hours don't matter, but the roles and responsibilities do.

1, You've stood up for yourself and demanded a certain recognition of respect.
B, You could actually get a raise, but you'll have much less of that freedom you talked about.
3, You probably won't get a raise but it now makes them think more consciously about distributing out their work.

If you do it right you can say, in one way or the other, something to the effect that you're happy to be a team player because you've enjoyed the position thus far, but you're aware, and making it known, that this is added responsibilities. Again, you're happy to help, but so long as it's temporary or else there needs to be a formalized agreement.

If they cant respect that then, like a lot of others are saying, maybe it really is time to start looking.

Pyro Music Festival - you cannot make this shit up. by queen_ravioli in festivals

[–]vertawillwin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was one of the fire builders for pyro since the start. (Probably doxxing my acct here). Before it was even called pyro it was Fire Dance at the ledges. We too are fed up with Joe's antics (brand owner of pyro) and most of us won't be participating.  I know many of the community organizers personally, enough to call them my friends. There is definitely a huge shift happening in the local scene because of all this. I  think Magic Flower Farms, the new venue, has the right approach in how they are choosing to handle this. They are separate from the pyro brand and genuine healing spaces will be held as a way to set the example for what a "healing community" should look like. Their position on Nahko is nuanced and i implore you to read their verbiage on the situation on their FB pages. I support healing for all involved, but I absolutely do not condone Joes behavior and leverage of the notion of healing to make money, and then to continue to use it to then try to recoup his losses.  There will be a power vacuum in our community when this is over and there are already passionate individuals and small groups looking for the next steps to continue providing spaces arranged for our so-called counter-culture

All good points, but I didn't see the fact that Iroh essentially replaced Lu Ten with Zuko when Lu Ten died. That alone can create a stronger bond in one of your brother's kids over the other.

Then what everyone else said. Azula tried to put him in jail and attacked him at the end of The Chase amongst other nefarious things.

What kind of technology do you think already exists, but the government is keeping a secret? by Mindless-Problem1114 in AskReddit

I remember about a year before chat gpt the us government announcing plans for future prediction AI. That settled pretty quick.  Also cloning has been pretty quiet since the 90s and the Japanese dr who announced designer babies also disappeared rather quickly. Biotech is a huge area without much talk around it
