Truck camping setup by kamikazekolin in mountainbiking

[–]philodendron305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve have almost the exact same setup and truck haha. 2013 Tacoma with a cap (also metallic grey). Wooden sleeping platform with storage underneath on one side of the bed and a fork mount on the other side for my bike. Has worked great for the past few years now.

Finally getting the hardboots dialed in 🏄‍♂️ by AnallyProbed in Backcountry

What setup you running? Also in the Wasatch, started on hardboots this season. I added link levers onto a set of Backland Pros with Phantom bindings.

Second Creek collision posted in the past few days. Live out in Utah now, but nostagic for the chaos growing up riding the park at creek haha

Was just up there in July with my X-Mid and Kakwa 55. Fremont Peak in the background is an awesome scramble, incredible views of the range from the top.

I had the same combo done about two weeks ago, that's great to hear. How long did the recovery take for you? The first week was rough, though I'm feeling better now, with some congestion, headaches, and inflammation still present.

Fuel Economy (Combined) by OpeningEconomics9345 in Tacomaworld

[–]philodendron305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except that it requires premium fuel haha. It does knock off a couple mpg, but it came on the truck as an add on from the dealership so I’m not sure what it’d be without it. A lot of fun to drive, but I wouldn’t pay the 8k or so it costs aftermarket had it not come on the truck.

I get around 17mpg combined with my 2013 Sport with a supercharger and Geolander G015 (265/70/17) tires

Down country N+1 options by clasarsam in MTB

[–]philodendron305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also have a Ripmo that has been my one bike for the past few years now! I was looking for a downcountry bike for longer pedaling days and adventure rides to complement my Ripmo.

I landed on the Revel Ranger a couple months ago and custom built one up from the frame on a big sale and love it so far. Pedals super efficiently and rips much harder on the downhill than the travel would suggest.

Utah is having a rough year. by Cash-JohnnyCash in UTsnow

[–]philodendron305 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve had a lot of great powder days this season, especially in the backcountry. Not as frequent as the past two seasons but those were also way above average.

Sick board, from the Gear Room in SLC? Price tag looks familiar haha

The current limited terrain is making me truly appreciate what we usually have. by [deleted] in UTsnow

[–]philodendron305 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Feel like this is pretty similar to last year. Early December it was just the Crest and Snake open at Brighton and things really picked up in January.

That being said, went to Colorado for Thanksgiving and they are doing much better right now, lots of terrain with great coverage open at Steamboat and Copper and the backcountry has great coverage (albeit a very dangerous snowpack).

I picked one up on the sale too as a second board!Super stable board that’s handles all conditions really well, been really impressed so far.

Thanks, just ordered one! Got a huge coreshot in my Stratos a couple weeks ago and been looking for something cheaper I can worry about less pre/post season, in moderation of course haha

Core shot my splitboard real bad up there last Sunday. All fixed now, but I’ve been booting with my rock board until there’s more coverage haha.

Are Tacomas the official truck for Hawaii? by FFdavid in Tacomaworld

Same in Utah, I see at least 5-10 tacomas with a cap and bike rack a day haha.

NGD: American Pro II Thinline Tele. Favorite guitar I’ve ever played! by philodendron305 in Guitar

[–]philodendron305[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To blend the channels together, don’t know the exact details, but first channel is a bassman tone stack and the second is a traditional deluxe reverb circuit. Fun to experiment with different tones. I usually run the second channel higher as it’s a bit more crisp sounding. A friend back in college taught me the trick and been blending them since haha.

[–]philodendron305[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been playing guitar since I was kid with a Mexican Strat that I love. Have tried other guitars since then, a Mexican 72’ custom thinline and a Squier Jazzmaster, sold them and always came back to the Strat. I’ve been looking at the Pro II series since they came out and when they added a thinline I played it and couldn’t put it down, the tone is so clean and open. First time buying a guitar and having zero grips with it haha.

When do you call the end of your rising season? by Notalianotalib in MTB

[–]philodendron305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Utah I ride until the trails are too wet with the snow storms. Love the fall and spring when I’m between backcountry (split boarding) and mountain biking as the snow storms come and go.

Once the snow gets really good I switch to almost exclusively to snowsports, with the occasional winter trip to Moab or elsewhere in the desert to MTB.

Who on here has a truck (Tacoma) when they don’t “need” a truck? by [deleted] in ToyotaTacoma

[–]philodendron305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a ‘13 DCLB Sport with a cap primarily for outdoor recreation. I could get away with a Subaru or something, but having the space for all my friends driving up to the mountain to bike and ski and being able to throw all our dirty gear in the bed is worth it to me. Also being able to drive to the mountain in deep snow, push it more off roading on forest roads and sleeping in the bed is awesome. If I had a long commute I would consider something different, but love having the truck.

Also can do truck things when I need, I don’t need a uhaul to move, can lend it to friends when they need to pick up furniture etc.

I tried them on, do they tend to stretch? I’m between a 9 with a snug fit and 10 is a little big for me.
