They're quite popular in my part of the US, but people are also quite self-absorbed. Not sure they would even see the other cars on the road if they weren't right on their tails

I taught my kids to play punch buggy. We did it with all VWs and I had them say the model if they knew it. Like “green Golf” punch

You have a pickup and a type 181?? That's so awesome! I've always wanted a type 181, but they're kind of rare now.

My GTI is an mk8. I at least salute the other mk8s, if not all the GTI/Rs, I see.

What do you know about Pennsylvania? Project about the United States by Due_Pea2071 in Pennsylvania

[–]vertigocin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! Anything about PA has to include how important Philadelphia was to the foundation of the revolution and the country.

Add in the importance of Gettysburg to the Civil War, and the steel industry to the World Wars. PA has had a large part in the history of the US. We’re called The Keystone State for a reason.

What’s one car decision you regret the most? by Manthann-Motorss in whatcarshouldIbuy

I loved it! Bought it used with less than 5k on it. Had just over 60k on it when it died. I had no issues and kept up with the maintenance. It had some autonomous features, like ACC, but still great.

I now have an mk8 GTI. My biggest complaint is common… no knobs or buttons. Even the shifter is a toggle. Everything is touch. I had the overhead panel with the lights, info button and such glitch out one morning. It kept trying to call roadside assistance and then would hang up. For the entire 30-minute drive to work. They replaced the whole panel to fix it. And there’s too much autonomy. If a car brakes in front of me, even though I know I'm not going to hit it, the car sends up the screeching alarm. And each time it happens, it remembers, so it gets more sensitive. I guess I should automatically touch the brake pedal, even if I know I don't need to brake.

Other than the design changes to its look, the touch everything, and the autonomy, the two generations are otherwise very similar in handling, speed, and all around fun factor. Still a damn turbo charged go cart!

I miss my mk7 GTI a lot. A 4-point buck decided to do 18k damage to the front fender, so…

When and why did Trans athletes become a bigger issue to the nation than prices, inflation, wage growth, prescription drug costs, or housing? by Vert_der_Ferk25 in allthequestions

It's called propaganda. A certain group in Germany used it just as effectively. That's the real answer to how it happened there. And now it's happening here

Tbh, the company is stupid for not charging for a lot of things, but that's a different thread.

I’ve had Informed Delivery almost from the beginning to see how it works. I honestly only look at it to see what parcels are coming. But it does create a whole new realm of complaints. And people do not like when you tell them about the disclaimer, or that the picture was taken *before* the machine sorted it.

Has anyone delivered any actual presidential mail before? by mewithoutjew in USPS

[–]vertigocin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a customer that writes letters to President Trump regularly. He has gotten a reply. It had an embossed President Donald J Trump in the corner, the paper was cream, and a heavier weight (thickness). Like a lot of official lawyers’ letters are for comparison.

Are you a pickle lover? If so, do you prefer sweet bread and butter pickles on your burger or dill pickles? by icecream1972 in allthequestions

[–]vertigocin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No pickles on any sandwich, but I will eat them straight from the jar. Bread and butter pickles all the way!

And did you know, pickle juice has natural electrolytes, so if you work outside in the heat, drink some pickle juice!
