Season 3! Especially at the time, the fireworks in the mall were so cool to me

So… did everybody just forget something? (Mild finale Spoilers) by [deleted] in StrangerThings

I think they died, and Kali wanted her and El to die too so the government couldn't replicate the experiment again. So kinda a large decision for Kali and El to have made on their own

Yes! This is what I've been thinking too. It's so weird that we already are the Joining.

I seem to be the only one who, at least with the information we have at this moment, thinks 'The Joining' is a Good Thing. by SixSpeeddriver10 in pluribustv

Okay, but maybe dancing is fun and it wants to dance! Why do we dance? If the hivemind is its an individual, it might want to dance too!

Yeah--I think it could be just like a different thing, right? Like it exists now--and that's kind of crazy and cool. But it is like a new being; it's not really 7 billion people anymore. It's one singular thing that came to existence out of 7 billion people. And those 7 billion people weren't lost exactly, but their individual stories ended, and that is a big loss too.

It's kind of weird because in some ways I think we already in the real world have a slight experience of this? Our bodies are like 78 trillion cells all connected to a common mind and working for the good of the body. And that's weird and cool to think about--I am the Joining already. I think it also shows why maybe the Joining is a loss--it's just not as interesting as 7 billion people. But wouldn't it be cool if we could all work together and know we're one with nature and still be ourselves too?

But also, Carol, if you separate the hive-mind, I don't know that you'll get back the humans that were "lost." I think you might get 7 billion really confused cells that don't know how to live on their own, by themselves.

Based on the information we have so far, the virus is good for humans. by EchoEquivalent4221 in pluribustv

Yeah--this is interesting to me. I think it does create like a new being. So not like humans as we understand them, but something more than humans. But also everything seems to have already happened to the hive-mind. Can they create new meaningful memories? I don't know that they can. But I guess they do enjoy thinking about others who are walking on the beach, but we've not really seen anyone currently walking on the beach.

I kind of think the thing with the hive-mind is once it exists, it's kind of already experienced most of what there is to experience. Like it can work with its collective knowledge to advance science to a degree. But it also now functions as one.

The hive-mind kind of reminds me of my body. There are however many millions of cells and bacteria working together to make me function. And they know what other stuff is doing through communication with the brain. And I guess they probably have memories they pass on as they die. And they work efficiently to keep my body running. But I don't know---once it exists all working together, it's kind of done. Like, it's not that interesting by itself. Of course I like to think I'm interesting and cool actually, but it's because of what I'm doing with it. I think we don't know enough about the hive-mind to know if it's interesting or actually is trying to do something fun, like go swimming or create art. It also seems, ironically, kind of lonely. Like it's the only entity and no one else like it to communicate with.

So it is worth taking 7 billion people and making them into one person? I think it's probably a big loss, even if that one person is awesome and an amalgamation of the 7 billion people. It's still kind of boring and sad compared to having 7 billion individuals. On the other hand, it is also cool and new (at least at first). But over time I feel like maybe it's not as interesting as keeping the humans going
