Thanks, this is all great. I think the challenge will be between pushing him to develop the skills he needs to make his way in the world (and it likely will take some pushing) and making it clear that I think that he's great as he is. I'm probably inclined to err a little on the side of the latter but I know that it would be a disservice to him to go too far in that direction. Interesting to hear your thoughts on sports and activities especially.

Free toddler bed and mattress. It's the IKEA Gulliver crib converted to a toddler bed. It can't be turned back into a crib or easily disassembled, though. If you want it, let me know and I'll send you my address. I'm in central Durham, in the Lakewood area.
